Hey, I just clicked on this site because i start at CMC nursing school in Aug. and wanted to find out if it was possible to graduate from ADN program and go into NICU. I guess it is. Any suggestions on how to better my chances of doing what you did? Do you have any previous experience or did you work as an NA or tech during school?
  2. I am starting a CNA class in Aug. and plan on starting nursing school in Jan. I think I'm interested in cardiac nursing and would like to see what it's like. Do CNA's work on cardiac floors and if they do what do they do? The only info I can find on CNA is in LTC or nursing homes. Thanks for the info.
  3. I start a CNA program in Aug. I am planning on starting nursing school next year and want to work as CNA for experience until then. From reading on this board it looks like most CNA's work in LTC or nursing homes, but if I want the experience for nursing wouldn't it be better to be in a hospital setting? Has anyone out there worked in a different area as a CNA? I was hoping working now would help me to know better which area of nursing I prefer.
  4. I have applied to Presby nursing school, but already know my best chance of getting in is not until Fall 2006. I'm thinking of applying to CMC. I'm getting my CNA certification there and thought my chances may be better at getting in. Anyone know if one school is better than the other? Or if getting in is any different?
  5. 12 pack of diet coke on the counter. There was a note on it. To: Sue thanks more than you will ever know. From ***** I was so impressed and amazed I didn't know what all I had done for him. It is things like these stories that keep me going that makes my reasononing for being a nurse relevant. Wow, those stories make me really look forward to being a CNA. I guess I need to focus more on the people and not their problems. Thanks
  6. I have applied and am waiting to hear back from an ASN program. I have to have my CNA before my first nursing class, so I was thinking of going ahead and getting that now. From reading on this board, a lot of people work as CNA's while waiting to get in. Thought that might be a good idea for me. How much do CNA's make and can they work flexible hours like the nurses. Has anybody continued to work through nursing school? If so, how was it?
  7. I've applied to an ASN program for RN. Do nurses with ASN's have limitations on what type of nursing they can do? I would eventually like to get my BSN, but for now the 2 year works better. I just wondered were there some areas of nursing only available to nurses with BSN's?
  8. I'm new to all this. I have just applied to a 2 year program and was told I have to be a CNA before my first nursing class. What exactly do they teach you and what do you do? I'm afraid it will be really gross. I know nursing won't always be easy, but don't CNA's have the icky jobs all the time? I want to do it, just to prove I can, but would like to know what I'm getting into. Do they require this to weed out the squeamish?
