Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Applicants 2014
Just wanted to let everyone know that I found out yesterday (Wednesday) that I got accepted into the nurse-midwifery program off of the waitlist!!! So for all of you that are on the waitlist and have given up hope (like I had!)... Don't just yet! :)

I finally got a status update so I am officially waitlisted. I'm just unsure if I've met all of the prereqs (I've taken all the required class for the BS program though). Is there any way to know for sure besides calling admissions? I've taken an introductory psych course and a human development course, but I'm not sure if that's the same thing as "Nutrition and Developmental Psychology"

Has anyone received anything official, either on the application page or in the mail? (besides psych and CNM who got phone calls right after their interviews?)

Did your application page update before you got the packet or no?

Also, I called about the fafsa. I don't want financial aid but I thought we had to fill it out still to be considered for the partial nursing scholarship. Turns out you just need to be admitted and don't need to fill out fafsa to be eligible for that. If someone else has a different understanding though, let me know!

I asked the woman I talked to if I had a number for the waitlist and she said no.

I just called admissions. She said "they're planning on sending letters out today but looks like you're gonna be waitlisted". I'm not sure how I feel! I guess I'm just happy that there's still a chance. And I applied direct entry CNM...So any of you out there that are debating haha

Did you get a letter in the mail? And are you from the Tennessee area? I'm not so I'm wondering if I'll get a letter later in the week

@heart_and_hands, did you apply prespecialty or direct entry for nmw?

Mine still says that as well!

I was so close to doing that on Friday but ended up not. Also, is there a certain date we need to have our FAFSA completed by? They keep emailing me telling me to finish completing it but I don't really want to until I hear back from Vanderbilt...I'm a little superstitious in that sense. haha

Ok thank you! That makes me feel a bit better. Do you have your bsn or did you apply prespecialty? Maybe they let direct entry and prespecialty know at different times too...

That makes me nervous. Wait which program hasn't? Direct entry CNM?

Congratulations to you and KLB! I have a couple questions for you guys. I interviewed for just the CNM direct entry last week. What time did you guys get the phone call today? And was it from an unknown number or TN? (I got an unknown phone call today...and while I doubt it was them I'd still be curious if their number came up as unknown or not). Also, the interviewers seemed to stress a lot during my interview that a lot of people get waitlisted.... Did they stress this a lot to you guys as well or was that just me? Thanks for your help!

Vanderbilt New Grad Program vs. Masters Program
Hello all! I am going to start applying for jobs in Nashville by the end of this year. I know that the Vanderbilt new grad program is extremely competitive. While I would like to work before getting my masters, I know that getting nursing jobs can be hard. I was thinking that I would apply for both the New Grad Program as well as their masters program (since it doesn't seem to require work experience). My worry is that getting into one may preclude me to get into the other (For example, maybe the masters program will accept me but then the new grad program would not....or if i got into both and decided to do the masters later, it may account against me for declining earlier on?) Does anyone know of people who have applied to both at the same time? Should I only apply to one, or not throw all of my eggs in one basket and apply to both?
