I hope your x-rays go good and you don't end up having anything else to do. I thought we had to get a TB shot after the quantiferon test but I guess not:)

How did you know exactly what books we would need? I would like to save money too if I can but I can't find the titles, authors, or ISBN number for any of the books to look them up. I tried going on the unlv bookstore website but none of the books would come up.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
Has anyone bought their white shoes? If you have do they have to be all white or can they have a tiny bit of color on them? I found some good white sneakers but they have like 2 dots of color. Idk how strict they are about the color of your shoes.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
As long as you got a B the first time you took one of your science classes, retaking it won't count against you. It will only help you.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
And thank you to everyone who congratulated me. This has been a struggle for me. Especially after getting rejected last semester so I understand the anxiety that everyone who is close to the suspected cutoff is having.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
I asked the head director of the health and science advising center if they will ever increase their acceptance number for the nursing school since the scores people applying with are increasing so much and she said no. When I asked why, she said that they don't have enough teachers to teach more students and that they have to share space at the hospitals with other nursing schools for clinicals. Each school gets to have a certain amount of people for each hospital. So maybe if there were more hospitals they would accept more people.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
I'm not sure but you should really get on it. The deadline is November 1st. I would go to the advising office to explain my situation and demand to see an advisor right away.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
How many did they say?
-
UNLV SON Spring 2014??
You calculate the hesi score by adding up the four categories percents and dividing by 8.75. For example, 100+100+100+100=400/8.75=45.7142857 So 45.7142857 is the most points you can get from the hesi test. You can also just take your total percent that you got on the hesi and multiply it by 45.7142857 to find out how many points you will get from hesi. For example, say you got an 88% overall on the hesi. .88*45.7142857=40.2285714 40.2285714 is the points you got from the hesi

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
I have. Just go to the room with your BSN application filled out, a printed copy of your hesi A2 scores, and a unoffical copy of your transcripts( the transcripts are not necessary though). At my signing session the director of the health science advising center showed up and let us in. There were about 20 of us. We all sat at a big circle table and she discussed how many applicants they have got so far, how we will know if we did or did not get in, and basically how difficult it is to get into the program. Then, she called people over to a seperate smaller table one by one in alphabetical order to look over their file and sign the Letter of Understanding. She does not caculate your score. Idk if she will if you asked her to, but I don't think she did it for anyone in my session last semester. You can ask her any questions you have about your file and then you leave. Its good to have your transcripts with you just in case one of your grades are wrong. In my last signing session, one of my grades were wrong and since I didn't have my transcripts with me she had to remember to go to her office and look up the grade and fix it. She doesn't have a computer with her. It all goes pretty fast though.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
Well, when I applied for the fall admissions I was missing Anatomy & Physiology 2, so I was a little confused about how to do the calculations with a missing class. I think my points were about 86-87 though. I called the Nursing School when I did not get accepted and they also told me the cutoff was 90.something. I hope it does not go up for spring admissions. Even though the school has consistently been getting more competitive every semester, I would be really shoked if the cutoff rose 2 points or more.....anything can happen though.

UNLV SON Spring 2014??
HI EVERYONE! Its so nice to see people so passionate applying to nursing school. I hope I get into the school. I want to be a nurse because I love helping people, working in a team, the medical field, and helping people adopt healthy lifestyle choices. I hope to become a nurse practitioner some day and open a clinic that focuses on preventive health care. This is my second time applying to the unlv nursing school. It also took me 4 years to finish my pre-reqs. Currently, I think my points add up to 92.2. I got a 93% on the hesi. I know the nursing school is getting more and more competitive every semester so I might retake the hesi to try and get a higher score. I don't know what I will do if I don't get into a nursing school. I feel so horrible that I didn't get in the first time. So now I am applying to other nursing schools. I just want to hurry up and be a nurse already.
