  1. Jessica, sorry for being so late! All math classes (including math 115) must be completed before they allow you into the program though you can be on the waitlist. History 107 or 108, Psy 236 and Phil 110 have been added to the general education.
  2. Oh, the day I saw the counselor was the day they had a meeting about the new changes and apparently it just confused everyone.
  3. Thanks! I called and spoke with someone in the Health and Sciences dept. I have to have my enrollment package submitted by 12/23 to not have to have statistics completed to apply. I do have to have my statistics class done before I can start the RN program though which is fine (waitlist is 1-2yrs). to be able to take statistics I have 2 math classes I need to take first, I planned on taking right away anyway.
  4. Hey everyone, So I am currently taking my final prereq (microbiology) for the RN program here at AVC. As you can imagine, I'm pretty darn excited to get these classes behind me and start the real deal. Anywho, last week we were notified that they are adding Math 115 (statistics) to the prereqs. I am not thrilled about this because I haven't been focusing on math because I wanted to get on the waitlist before taking them. What they are currently saying is, students entering the nursing program Fall of 2015 will have to meet these requirements. Is this going to apply to me? Am I going to be able to get on the waitlist still after I'm done with this semester? If I don't start the RN program (which I don't anticipate being that lucky) by Fall 2015 will I need to make sure I have met the new prereqs? I saw a counselor last week and they weren't sure either? Anyone have any insite on the subject? I'm planning on going back and talking to a counselor next week to try to get more clarification.
  5. Hello! I'm new to this site and will be starting school come fall. I found out in March that my work was doing massive layoffs and I'm on my last week of work now. I will be attending Antelope Valley college, doing my prereqs first, then apply for the RN program. I am extremely excited to start this new chapter in my life! I would really love to go to school full time as I have 2 small children at home and don't want to be separated from them for too many hours and cannot afford daycare. Does anyone have experience with being able to collect unemployment while going to school? I know specific degrees/training is covered and they stated they will make exceptions if the career is considered in demand. I just wanted to know if my "ideal situation" is even possible. Thank you for all your advice and information!
