  1. I am a new grad in CA, let alone in the San Francisco area and it is extremely difficult to get a job in this area...especially as a new grad, but it happened for me and it can happen for you. Attitude is everything and you need to really be confident and optimistic it'll all work out. Putting undue stress on you about finding a job before actually passing your NCLEX will ultimately destroy your chances of 1) passing the NCLEX and 2) getting a job. The NCLEX should be your primary worry for yourself right now. It is a difficult test, meant to challenge you and all your time and energy should be put into preparing to pass it with flying colors. ALL student loans and grants/scholarships require you to make some kind of a payment in 6 months after graduation, FOR ANY DEGREE. So it's not just nursing that has sucked you into this god forsaken situation. The worst case scenario is they want you to pay it all at once? Well, that's not going to happen and the company will work with you to try and either make out a repayment plan or something. They won't just say, "Oh well, we'll just lose out on $40k..." Trust me, they'll work with the situation because something for them in a financial standpoint is better than nothing. For now, focus on graduation, enjoy the last couple of months left of your college career and hit the books to study for the NCLEX and sporadically through all that, apply for nursing residencies. You think you're stressed now? Just wait, first year out of school and in the field is where the stress and real challenge comes. It's all new and now you have people relying on you for your care, all while being brand spankin new to it all. I wish you luck, keep your head up, remember why you got into nursing in the first place and biggest thing, remain confident. You know you have it in you, don't just give up.
  2. I called HR last week and talked someone in nurse recruitment. He said that the nurse managers are still deciding on the April cohort and that they may take as long as towards the end of March to let the nurse managers decide and to let those candidates know. There is still some hope.
  3. I heard from a friend who is currently in the program from last year tell me that if they called to check for references, that they will at the very least let you know if you were not chosen via email from the nursing manager of the unit you interviewed on. Otherwise, he also said not hearing either way yet is a good sign because it's likely you may be a candidate for the April cohort, just an f.y.i. Still have hope!
  4. What day did you get your call? I've been waiting to hear from TNU as well and called Thursday, January 8 and HR told me they were waiting for the nursing manager to make the decision. I haven't gotten a call or a denial email and I interviewed on the 21 as well as got a call from HR for references the next day.
  5. Anyone hear from TNU yet for job offers?
  6. Hey Moonbeamlady, I found out the second week of July that I was accepted into the program off the wait list. The orientation for incoming level 1 students is generally at the end of July so it was a little bit before that I found out. Keep your offer at SJSU and unfortunately you just have to wait it out! I hope this helps a little bit! Congratulations on getting in to SJSU! It's still a great accomplishment none the less! I get wanting to get into CSUEB, it was my top pick and it happened for me! :)
  7. To all those wait listed, Do not be discouraged!Truth be told, I was wait listed and in the middle section and I got into CSUEB Concord Campus. I know for my cohort that they went all the way through the 70/80 people on the wait list and still didn't fulfill all the positions available. I would recommend taking a position elsewhere if you were offered, since every year differs from the other. However, I think it is highly likely that they'll go through the entire wait list again. When I was accepted, the cohort before mine said the same thing as well, so I think it's "normal" for the school. It's an accomplishment to get in and to get on the wait list at the very least, as the school generally has over 900 applicants. Good luck to those on the wait list and Congratulations to those who were accepted! Huge accomplishment and get excited for your new beginning and journey to becoming a RN!
  8. Hey Aspiring CSUEB Nursing students! I was a avid user of this site when I was awaiting to find out about getting into CSUEB. To help you guys out, they will most likely let you know very, very end of May or even into June. They receive a ton of applications and so they usually don't finish processing them till beyond the date they state. Also, you will receive an email letting you know if you got in, for those who do not get in they will put some of you on a wait list. DO NOT be discouraged by being on the wait list. For my cohort, they literally went all the way through the 70 students they wait listed. Good luck to all! If you have any questions, just ask!
  9. Received my admittance letter this morning!!! I will be seeing all of you at Concord campus this Fall and at orientation next Thursday! Cannot wait!!!
  10. Hey again! Thanks for sharing that with me! Certainly helps answer some of my questions I had, like if it is time sensitive! Again, congratulations! What a accomplishment! Hope to be joining you guys at the orientation next week! Fingers crossed!
  11. Heyyyy!!! Oh my god! Congratulations! I'm so jealous! Hopefully there are still enough spots for meeeeee!!! I thought they had a pattern going of only sending out emails on Fridays, but I guess that's not true!!! Question though, did your email say there were spots still available at both campuses? I am hoping for Concord if I get in, as I live literally 5 minutes away from that campus. Again, congratulations, you deserve it!
  12. Heyyy!!! I too broke down yesterday before I saw your post and emailed ------------ about the waitlist. She said they were definitely into the middle third and still awaiting students replies, as all the spots have yet to be filled!!! That's good news, right? I don't know if the emails sent out to those already off the waitlist are time sensitive, I would hope they are so they can just keep working up the list! I'll be sending good vibes your way as well! :) Good luck!
  13. Waitlist hopeful over here...anyone happen to have a clue as to what section they're on? I'm in the middle third and anxiously checking my email like crazy, hoping for some good news.
  14. Congratulations! That's a tough choice! May I ask what section if the waitlist you were on? Top third? Middle third? I'm hoping to hear something soon too as well.
  15. Hey Everyone, I'm the jealous predator that has been stalking this site, anxiously hoping to hear something about the CSUEB wait list. I received e-mail that I was on the 2/3 of the wait list and that in "recent years" they've gone anywhere from #'s 25-70. I wish they gave you a specific number because it would just help calm me down, the slightest bit even! I'm just curious to know if anyone knows maybe what part of the list they may get to, or possibly last year what number they go to? I'm just wondering if I even have a shot. CSUEB is my dream Nursing School, but I am in at USF or SFSU just in case. Ahhh!!! I'm going crazy over here, constantly refreshing my e-mail hoping for some speck of hope! Congratulations to you all!
