  1. Well I was more concerned on whether it was 1 year or this unspoken 3-years in terms of the "real" program length. No matter how you cut it, committing to 3 years just to avoid blacklist if one were to leave after getting their year of experience is unnecessarily obtuse. Nobody likes getting their armed twisted over some perceived sunk cost. That said, thank you for the information. This is very helpful. ?
  2. Any confirmation if they "blacklist" you for leaving before those 3 years? Or is it more like a de-prioritization of your application if you end up applying for something there later on down the line? Kinda worried they would communicate this to other hospitals and really wreck chances of getting a job elsewhere. The pay for the new grad program isn't great, just need the experience.
  3. Seems to look like Ontario and Fontana are done. Anyone heard from Riverside?
  4. Any idea how many applicants they accept? Saw the Kaiser Ontario residency only took like 3 so I wondered if it was any different here. Also, any idea if there is a contract to work there a specific amount of years if accepted into the program? Thought I saw something about that. Thanks in advance.
  5. Has anyone heard from Riverside, Fontana, or Ontario? All my applications show "job submission complete" and haven't heard anything. Thanks in advance
  6. Thanks for the feedback, y'all.
  7. So my wife is preparing for RN school but alot of things are happening in our lives right now that has her reconsidering her approach. She asked for my help in gathering info about the LVN-to-RN 30 unit program available at alot of schools here in California. However, she is worried that she may face less job opportunities as well as have less room for pay growth. We have no plans on leaving California so the limitation of only being able to practice in CA isn't really a problem, but if facilities don't like hiring 30-unit RNs or don't like paying them as much, then that might be a problem. On the other hand, she'll have nearly 10 years experience as an IV certified LVN (including charge nurse and treatment nurse) by the time she completes school. Surely this would look good on a resume when looking for a job as RN, right? Any feedback would be much appreciated
  8. How bulletproof might this be? Wonder if anyone else has any feedback. Is it structured or can be it taken in a way that gives it structure like if it was an online class from a university or something? I feel like my friend may benefit the most from something structured and ideally instructor-led too.
  9. Asking for a friend: Friend has taken the TEAS VI twice now and first time spent almost every evening and weekend for a month studying, even using the yellow book, flash cards, taking notes, etc, and online resources (youtube, etc). Scored a 47% which was a no go. Second attempt last week, was studying from April to June, much heavier on all the studying and flash cards and such. Still scored 47% but felt the test was getting easier, felt good, but score was still 47% (WOW!?!). One more attempt (and one more school) left to try before being forced to try to apply for hyper competitive bridge program 4 hours away and have to relocate to attend. This is all pretty crappy considering friend is already an LVN and has been for 4 years. Anyways... Friend wants to know in-person prep classes are available? Almost anywhere in SoCal is within limits to attend so long as the score can be brought up significantly. Google searches keep bringing up results to do with online prep courses, some with live instructors but most without. How good is this as an option and if thats the best/only option, which online course would be recommended? The one from Achieve looks flexible enough (since friend works full time Tue-Fri 10hr shifts), but meeting once a week in the online instructor led portion seems inadequate. Any advice? Thanks in advance. edit: sorry i guess i should have posted this in the TEAS exam help section. Can it be moved please?
  10. That sure is part of what im missing, but in the wrong direction lol.
  11. Hi everyone. I recently married my girlfriend of nearly 10 years, so really happy about that. She is happy that she can move forward with her education in Nursing. Currently she is an LVN here in Southern California (inland empire area) and is pulling her hair out looking for an LVN to ADN/RN bridge program that doesn't require a year+ of college pre-requisites. Whats the point in spending a year or more doing pre-reqs just to bridge into RN and take a total of 2 years when 2 year straight up RN programs already exist? I've been helping her for a long time now dig and dig for something and as far as im aware, there aren't many options. I agreed to support her while she got her RN but my own finances are somewhat limited, so this has to be accomplished as fast as possible. She doesn't want to do the 30 unit non-degree programs because the limitations of it are a turn off too. A few places she mentioned to me were Concordia University in Irvine (crappy drive from Riverside), and SJVC (San Joaquin Valley College). SJVC has a campus in Ontario, however their LVN to RN bridge program is ONLY OFFERED IN VISALIA, CA! Thats a 4+hr drive! Is there something we're missing? Are there any alternatives? Open to all suggestions, happy to hear anything and everything! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
