  1. I took the nclex on the 25th. I read on the BNE and it didn't say much. I will have 3 days of orientation and then will be on my own. The DON lives at the facility and said she would be there any time I need her. I am really nervous and don't really know what all I am allowed to do.
  2. I believe it would be hypocritical to take the Nightingale Pledge and not inform people of the benefits of quitting things that are damaging their health. Being a nurse does not put you on trial, you are not a "leader", you are a care giver and it is your job to provide care. Part of care is teaching and educating. I personally believe every nurse should educate about better health practices, but let's look on the flip side of this. How would the OP want to discourage smoking? by saying that people who smoke are bad, by making some crude remark... As a smoker I would be highly offended if a health care person confronted me about my smoking in a rude way, with his attitude. I would much rather be informed by someone who looked at me non judgementally and kind of floated the information by me than someone who made me feel like a worthless idiot for smoking.
  3. I graduated on aug 6. took boards the 25. found out i passed through quick results. my boss knows all this, but isn't sure what i can do and said she would just have a nurse sign behind me.
  4. I recently graduated from school and got my GVN in Texas. Took my nclex and passed at 85 questions. I still am not listed on the BNE and have not received license in mail. What am I allowed to do at work? Can I work as a nurse? Do I have to have some one right with me at all times? Will a nurse on one hall while I am on another be okay? I don't want to jeopardize my license. I will be working in LTCF with 24 pts. and one aide on 10-6 shift, what can I expect. HELP, I start monday night.
