  1. Hello! I recently applied to grad. school for Fall 2013. I was accepted to few midwifery programs. I am leaning towards UIC. But now I'm starting to panic, b/c deposits are due. The problem is that I have only practiced on an acute medicine floor. Besides nursing school, I have no experience with women's health / L and D. I chose Midwifery based on a gut feeling that this was what I really want to do. I'm extremely excited to start and believe I am going to school for the correct specialty. But I was wondering if it is possible to switch specialties during grad. school? For example, if I decide that midwifery is not what I really want to do, can I switch/apply credits to the FNP program or another such specialty? Is the first year of graduate school mostly core courses that apply to several different programs? Has anyone done this before? Thank you so much for your answers! I really appreciate your help!
