Hello all. First time user on this site to I apologize if Im not in the correct place. I have some questions regarding getting accepted into a BSN program. First I should give you a little background info. So my first couple years of college i bombed pretty bad. Even put on academic probation. Partially due to the fact i had no idea what i wanted to do when i got to college and didn't find something i was passionate about til after the fact and also because my father was diagnosed with cancer shortly after. After a long uphill battle i have finally got my cumulative up from a 2.3 to a 3.1 with my nursing prerequisites barely over a 3.0. With that said, what do you think my chances would be of getting into a BSN program? I should also note that due to the university rules, I can't retake the beginning classes since I have a C. But all the upper level courses like genetics, physiology, developmental psych, and stats are all A's. I only have anatomy left to take as far as prerequisites go. Im getting my cna this summer and there are two highly regarded professors at my university that said they would be more than willing to write me a letter of recommendation. Also live in WA if that helps. A couple other minor questions to add. I only have one more year before i graduate with a major in biology. If that happens and i still don't get in would I still be able to apply to the BSN program or is that solely for undergraduates? And my last question, there were some retakes along the way. Some non nursing related and some nursing. Even though I got a better grade the second time, the first "poor" grade is still being counted against me on my transcript/gpa. I've heard others talk about if I were to apply to a different university program, they sometimes take out the first grade and only accept the better one therefore altering my gpa slightly. Is this true or just false hope? Thanks again for reading this and any information is greatly appreciated.
