  1. Hi. I am student NP. I am scheduled to graduate in August. My preceptor told me that she worked as a graduate NP after she took a board while she waited for her licence. I searched everywhere including Missouri board of nursing and AANP. I even emailed them, but nobody has been responded yet. Where can I find that information? Thank you.
  2. Hi. I am a student NP, who graduate in August. I am not a FNP yet but I am looking for FNP job. I put RN-BSN next to my name? Do you think I should put RN-BSN or should I delete that?
  3. Hi. I am about to graduate soon. I am FNP track, and looking for a job. I really really want to work 12 hour shift, and urgent care seems to be only place that I could do that (I don't like to work in a hospital). Plus I want to take care of all the population. It is fun. My another goal is helping children who is in crisis nursery (I have long story). I don't have any peds background. All my experience was adult. But..It seems like I get to work by myself after short orientation in urgent care. I like to LEARN.I care about learning rather than making money at this point. I feel like I can learn more by working in a physician's office rather than working in urgent care by myself because I can have more feedback from my collaborated physician. Plus I can ask questions to him whenever I want to (Please tell me if I am wrong because I don't know!!). I am new. How am I supposed to learn if I am a sole provider. I guess I can call my collaborated physician by phone. But that doesn't seem enough. It doesn't seem safe to me. Please help me.. If I can get learn more in the physician's office as new NP, I will do that for a few years even if I hate to work M-F. If I can learn as much as I could in physician's office, I really really want to work in urgent care.
  4. Thanks you.. I have been calling HR since yesterday... Nobody has been calling me back..thanks you for replying.
  5. I worked on Saturday and had to call in Sunday( the next day). I am scheduled to work tomorrow. I need to call in tomorrow. I didn't work since Sunday. Is it considered 1 Occurrence?
  6. Should NP able to prescribe narcotics? I have debate coming in my classe. I am on "yes" side but I can't think of good retional. I like to know you each side of opinions. I also like to know why some people are againt NP's precribing narcotics. Thanks
  7. Hi. I am in FNP school now. I don't have any peds or ER experience. Do you think I can workin in ER or urgent care setting?
  8. OR was my goal. I really wanted to work in OR setting. I even shadowed one nurse. I had 3 interview for 3 different hospitals. They all rejected me. As soon as I said I was in school, they was like "what!!!" They didn't think that I could focus on working because I was in school. My goal is to become surgical NP. Oh well... They may be right. I may not be able to keep up study and work with on calls, orientation, and etc.. Are you a surgical NP?
  9. I am about to do the same thing that you did. I am forcing myself to work peds or ICU. Peds is not my best interest but I kind of think that I should be about to assess children if I want to work in clinic.
  10. Whaaaaaaat!! Are you a travel nurse? Fun!!! I don't know if I should go to adult ICU or peds.. Any suggestion? I like both setting, clinics and hospital. What do you think?
  11. ER exp was invaluable? Wow!! I wonder what you do now!!
  12. Hi. I have been working in med/surg for 7 years. Just started FNP. I have been doing just adults. I am not sure whethere or not I want to work in a clinic or doctor's office, or acute hospital setting. I feel like it is better to have other experience. I am thinking about doing peds. FNPs!!!! Please share with me. What kind a nurse were you (peds/adults/meds/tele/ER/ICU...) and where do you work(clinic/office/hospital...)
  13. To Kguill975: Thank you so much again for your help. I think I know where to go.
  14. Hi. Last time when I was here, I got lots of help. Thank you, especaily for [COLOR=#003366]kguill975 and [COLOR=#003366]Annaiya. I am going to start part time FNP program. My goal is to be a surgical NP. I like to work with surgeons. I am working on med/surg unit as part time now. It looks like I don't need OR experience to be a surgical NP.But..If don't work in OR, how am i going to network with my future work? Who is going to hire me as surgical NP? It could happen but it is going to be really difficult. I know once I graduate, I can attend RNFA program (7 days). But since I don't have any knowlege about surgery, traning will be longer. Big thing is that I don't think anybody wants to hire me as a surgical NP. I will be difficult to find a surgeon who wants to train me. I decided to work in OR as part time. Nobody accepted me as part time nurse. I understand why. Only choice to work in OR is working full time. I have 4 yr old son. I don't know if I can work full time and go to part time NP. Next fall I study: research for evidence based practice, theoretical foundation of reserch and practice. Next spring I study: policy organization and financing of health care and populaiton based foundation of health. I am planing to ask OR manager if I could be part time next fall. Until then, I have to be full time to work in OR. Do you think I could handle full time work until next spring is finished? Or..Should I just fouce on study and work part time in med/surg..
