  1. I found out a few weeks after the meeting when all our immunizations and physical were due. I know of come alternates that did not get in until the week before classes, so don't lose hope! :)
  2. I know of at least 6 alternates, including myself that were accepted.
  3. Only 70 were accepted into this semester.
  4. My score was 156, but keep in mind it's based on the scores of your pool of applicants. The first meeting they tell you what you need to have done to be accepted into the program as far as immunizations, background check, etc. and they schedule those for you. The program is three days a week.
  5. Just wanted to say to those of you who are alternates to not lose hope! I was an alternate last semester and I go into the program. They usually do not start accepting alternates until you turn in all your paperwork after the second orientation, just go through with a mentality as if you are in the program and get everything that is required of you completed. I am unsure of the number of alternates they choose each semester but I know of at least 8 in my class that got in...some as late as the week before classes started! Good luck, and congrats who all got in!
  6. I'm located in Vero. The first day of class is quickly approaching, I'm starting to get pretty excited. :)
  7. Just curious, is anyone else having problems with the professor nightingale videos? I can't seem to get them to open and I've tried downloading both real player and adobe.
  8. It doesn't hurt to re-apply. If you don't get in you still have the LPN program to fall back on, and then work your way up from there. Like many other posters have mentioned there are LPN-RN programs, and that way you can get started on your degree and not have to keep re-applying. Good luck!
  9. Thanks so much LMB1979!
  10. What type of bag should we get, are the rollerbags a necessity? I guess that plays into my next question: which textbooks are we required to bring to class daily or which would you recommend bringing? Are there any time management tips/ideas you have? Thank you! :)
  11. Thanks everyone for all of your awesome advice!
  12. The signed papers that are in the Health Science and Nursing Handbook!
  13. Thank you all for the advice! :) I just bought Lippincott's Q&A Review for NCLEX RN and wanted all of your opinions. I like this text because it's divided into sections and it provides correct answer with details why the other choices are not correct. I've heard Saunder's has a great guide as well, but isn't as depth in the Children's Health sections. (I would've flipped through the guide but it was in the plastic at the books store.) My question is should I return this one for Saunder's, or maybe just study both? I plan on studying the NCLEX questions by chapter/unit along with my program.
  14. I just received my acceptance letter into my college's ADN program and I was wondering if any of you other Nursing Students had any advice?
  15. Thanks ladies! :)
  16. I received my acceptance letter today!
  17. I was wondering if anyone knows of any alternates/if any have gotten into the program? I'm still waiting patiently...or not so patiently.
  18. I've seem to have misplaced mine too, but I'm pretty sure the only thing we were handed in regards to the flu shot was the declination form.
  19. If you can I would go ahead and try and get your flu shot before clinicals. I know last year at IRMC employees who had not had their flu shot within a few weeks of flu season had to wear a mask at all times while in the building. This included visitors as well. Wearing a mask for a 7+ hour shift is no fun.
  20. Hi everyone, I applied to Spring 2014 and I was put on the alternate list. I am unaware of where I am on the list which is driving me crazy but I was curious if anyone knew around how many alternates are chosen each semester. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Any feedback would be much appreciated. :)
  21. I was curious if anyone knows someone who is on the alternate list and if so, what they're total score is? So far, I think I'm the only one on the forum that's an alt. I'm just curious as to where I fall on the alt list. Thank you. :)
  22. I'm on the alternate list but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Congratulations to all who were accepted!
  23. I really wouldn't worry too much unless your application isn't updated by Monday. Today is the deadline so they are probably still processing all the information from this week's NLN scores and then any other information they receive. 300+ applicants calling about the status of their applications probably isn't going to make the info appear any faster. Like I said, I wouldn't worry about it unless it's not updated by Monday. :)
  24. @Tlilavois: Thanks for the positive words! I know, it does seem like a long time. I'm going to try my hardest not to stress or think about it each day. It's easier said than done though! :)
  25. I took the NLN today and scored a 124, not as high as I was expecting but I have a 156 total for application score. I'm crossing my fingers that it's high enough to get in, as it seems most people have an average of around 170. Good luck to all.
