Failed in the BSN program last semester.Any schools accept me?me?
Wow after reading some of your post, i am shocked. My program would not even accept a C in the nursing level classes. We could make a C in the non nursing classes as long as our GPA did not dip below 2.5. However, remember most graduate schools require a 3.0 gpa so the minimal is not recommended in case you decide to go on.

Need help with Fitzgerald's NP certification CDs
I bought a set of almost new set Margaret Fitzgerald - Nurse Practitioner certification CD off ebay . They stated in the add that the were for Family Nurse Practitioners wanting to study for the test. After getting them I looked on the Fitzgerald website and seen there are and Family Nurse Practitioner certification CDs and once called Nurse practitioner certification cds. The ones I got were the did not say Family on them just Nurse Practitioner Certification. What is the difference between the two? Do you think I will need to return them due the them not being FNP CDS or is the information relatively the same. Thanks in advance.

ADN program or BSN?
The thing to base this on is your over all goal. Is being a RN you long term goal? If so, the ADN is cheaper and easier path to reach your goal. If you want to progress into management, the BSN will help you out some but really RN management jobs are given by merit not degrees. In othe words, you can still reach management with a AS degree. Now if you goal is to earn a MSN or DNP in nursing, then that changes things. If this is your goal then you will want to get the BSN out of the way as one is needed to apply to graduate school. What ever you choose congrads on working on being a nurse....

HELP/ADVICE!? Straight to RN OR LVN/LPN-RN
Hi, I am not real sure of the programs that you listed but they should be pretty much the same as what we have here in Tennessee. If you goal is the be an RN then why even bother with the LPN/LVN path? Realistically going through the LPN path will not help you. When you do get to be a LPN/LVN you may get to skip the first year of nursing school. please understand what I am saying, this is the first semester of nursing classes not the entire first year of a two year degree. that is what most LPN/LVN here think when you graduate. but the fact is LPN/LVN is a vocational school, not a college. you will still have to do the college classes such as comp1 and 2, collage Algebra, micro biology, prob and stats, human anatomy , this is just a small example of the classes on top of the nursing classes. if your overall goal is to be a RN why delay this, most colleges have a waiting list, that is fine, get the pre-reqs out of the way while you wait. then get in and get out. the only way i would advise you to go the LPN/LVN path is if you have to earn a living. if you are in need of money then LPN/LVN program will graduate you in a year and allow you to work while going to rn school.

Looking for a FNP Preceptor in East Tennessee
Getting 6 hours is what I am worried about. I really do not have anything left to take but FNP II and I have a preceptor for that in the spring. If i can not get a women s health I will only have 3 hours to take leaving me without financial aid. That is the reason I am freaking out so much. You can not take the advanced FNP practicum or Scholarly Synthesis/Research until the last semester. I did really well in Advanced Health Assessment. you have to video tape you examinations and mail them in. you can not upload the video to them or youtube you have to mail it in. you can have no editing to the video and you can not look around as if note are posted somewhere. if you do any of these things you get a 0 for the assignment. it is basically acting. all you have to do is know what you are doing and go over and over it until you have it down then do it for the camera. what is hard is when you replay the video and realize you missed something, you have to do the whole thing over again (no editing). my first video to me 5 hour to complete due to leaving our steps.

New laws requiring LPNs and RNs to become BSN by 2016
they also would like np to get a phd instead of a master degree. but this is just recommendations not mandates, yet!!! although a lot of schools are migrating away from master np programs already. so changes will probably come but not by 2016.

Looking for a FNP Preceptor in East Tennessee
yes i tried both of those. right now i found a place that is awesome that i hope to get in with. it is a christian faith based place that is in the process of reviewing applications for preceptors. i did not know a place like this existed but it seem like a perfect fit for me. they truly try and get help to the community . i keep praying that i am selected for this one. as for advice on the program, just take your time. taking to many classes may overwhelm you. it is good to start out part time at first to see how the work load effects you. to me advanced pharmacology and advanced pathology were the hardest. i would recommend not taking them together in the same semester. on allnurses.com i have read that advanced research was hard. i thought it was not hard but very very time consuming. there was a lot of papers to write that require a lot of sources. lastly, go to the rodp bookstore to see what books you will need, get the isbn number then look on ebay and amazon as they are a lot cheaper. hope this help. good luck to you, you will be fine in the program.
