  1. It is tragic that nursing professionals are back to bickering about for profit schools, online schools, Walden U, ivy league.etc. The effort and ideas should be spent on Capital Hill working towards streaming and standardizing NP programs. We should be advocating for the establishment of a separate NP governing board (one apart from RN, MD, PA and DO), standardized grad school curriculums, established residency programs after graduation, policy making etc prescriptive rights to our brother and sister NPs in the south...... It may not be the right choice for you (who does not know the difference in undergrad and graduate education), but that does not merit you belittling the choices of others. Your behavior can be compared to the behavior of a group of crabs that are stuck in a bucket. As one crab tries to climb out of the bucket for his chance at freedom, the others pull him back in, you're one of the others.
  2. It seems as if the culture where nurses eat their young has transcended onto the forum. Not everyone has the opportunity to attend a brick mortar university. There are single parents with lots of responsibilities to juggle who cannot attend classes during the day. For some rural nurses there are no universities within their area, the only option they have is an online program. The attitude here is so discouraging! To say an msn from walden and 5 bucks can get you latte is disparaging. To imply that you'll be excluded from a job with a degree from an online university is disheartening for the person who has no other option, but has the strong desire to become a NP. We néed to find a way to streamline line the system so the requirements are the same for every university regardless of online or brick and mortar. I joined allnurses a week ago as a way to network with my colleagues and now I'm so turned off. Everyone has their opinion and it can be expressed in a diplomatic manner. So much hostility.
  3. Myelin. .....the link for the ad please
  4. Lol. Get this. There are med schools in which the didactic portion can be completed online. Is this a sign of things to come?
  5. Myelin. Can you post a copy of the ad please? Or provide where you saw this ad I'm most curious. I've been searching on so many websites with job postings and they all seem to ask for accredited universities. I've yet to find one that post online need not apply. I know of 6 fnps who attended online programs whose universities are brick and mortar and found jobs that they wanted
  6. Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise
  7. Myelin I can feel the bitterness in your tone. Why so angry?
  8. Myelin how unfortunate to say such a thing. Do you share the same feelings about MDs that attend international medical schools? The Caribbean is full of those in addition to other third world countries. The ED MD group that I work for currently has in their employ approximately 10 PAs that attended a PA program at a community college. Be fair...
  9. Hi Tammie, nice to meet you. I'm Arion. Congrats and good luck!! You make it seem easy juggling all the things you do. Lol. I'm stoked but a bit apprehensive. What have you disliked and liked about the program?
  10. Hi all, anyone starting walden on June 3rd? I'm doing the fnp, home is in Nevada. Anyone else from the silver state starting the program in a week and a half?
