  1. Does anyone plan to work part time or per diem once the program starts? I am thinking about cutting my hours at work and continue working part time. I am worried though, 12 hours X2 = 24 hours a week might still be too much to handle with our school load. Any suggestions/comments/thoughts? Maybe per diem is a better option? However, if I choose per diem, I will no longer be a benefited employee. Do most students quit their bedside jobs?
  2. I am curious to know if anyone is planning to working part-time or full-time once our program starts?
  3. I received acceptance for CSULA's ANP program today via email.
  4. Don't lose hope!! I don't think they are notifying everyone at the same time.
  5. Just received this email from JR: "Due to unforeseen circumstances the decision emails were not able to be sent today, you will be sent your email decision by end of business day (6pm) tomorrow, Sorry for the inconvenience."
  6. Just received official email from RF a few minutes ago. I was accepted for the Adult/Gerontology Primary Occupational and Environment Health specialty for Fall 2014. Thank God! Good luck to everyone!
  7. I received an acceptance letter via email from UCLA, but not the school of nursing. I have not received any notification from the school of nursing directly. My status changed online before I received the admission letter via email from UCLA's graduate division. I'm curious to know why the SON has not notified me yet? Congrats to all of those accepted and good luck to those who have not yet been notified!
  8. Yes, I believe the program can be done part-time.
  9. I've called CSULA's school of nursing twice and left voicemails, but no one has returned my calls, so I appreciate the update!
  10. Hi watermelon21, I'm not sure if we will hear back this month. The original deadline to submit the application was February 3rd, but they extended the deadline to March 1st. We will probably hear back later than we expected.
  11. Hi Friends, I applied to CSULA's traditional MSN/NP program for fall 2014. I am wondering if anyone else applied? I hope we can keep each other updated on this thread. Thanks! RNBSN7777 :)
  12. From one of the info sessions I attended, this was the breakdown for # of students accepted: Adult gero acute care NP/CNS: 24 Adult gero primary NP: 24 Peds NP/CNS: 16 Family NP: 32 Hope this helps. :)
  13. Thanks for the information Pachinko, I was wondering if UCLA's NP program requires you to find your own preceptors? Or do they find preceptors for you? I've been really researching the MSN-NP programs that I am interested in. Most forums say that other schools make their students find their own preceptors. I am curious if UCLA's program does the same? Thanks again!
  14. Hi Pachinko, I am curious to know if you were able to work while in the NP program at UCLA? Is it doable to complete the program and work part-time? Also, on average, how many years of experience and what kind of experience did students accepted to UCLA for your cohort have? Any advice on what should be included in the personal statement? Thank you so much!!
  15. Thanks for the encouragement! You all are amazing. Does anyone have any tips on what should be included in the personal statement (i.e. community service, work experience, research)?
