  1. Hi everyone. I realize these questions have probably been asked before & for that I apologize. I just stumbled upon this site while looking up info on one of the travel agencies I have applied with. I've been a nurse for 14 years (13 of those in PACU) & I've only worked in one hospital in my entire career so I'm breaking out of my shell a little bit. I'm in the process of relocating from KY to GA & so far I haven't had much luck finding a job in an area I'd be interested in so I decided to go against my fears & see what this travel nurse thing is all about. So far I am completely confused! I don't understand how the pay works, & the bonuses (travel, housing, etc). Do they offer benefits (health & life insurance, 401k, etc)? What happens at the end of the 13 weeks? Do they just say goodbye & send you on your way? I'm moving to this area so I will need something longer than 13 weeks! Also, I applied specifically for a PACU position because that's my specialty. How likely is it that I will get pulled to another unit? I haven't worked anything else in over 13 years & honestly I would be intimidated being pulled to a unit that I knew absolutely nothing about! If someone could just give me some tips & pointers & maybe answer some of the questions I asked, I would greatly appreciate it. A lady from one of the companies is supposed to call me tomorrow to discuss my plan. Are there any specific questions I should have ready to ask her? Thanks in advance for any & all help!
