Dear Nurses I am currently working as casual RN in aged care settings as newgrad nurse. And I hold open work visa. I was frequently asked by manager if I can work as caregiver. However, My nursing school dean has told me before I graduate that RN is not allowed to practice as HCA. or otherwise our registration will be taken off. So can we work as HCA or not? The manager said RN who hold work visa given by rest home cannot work as HCA but NZ resident or PR or open work visa people can work as HCA? I am very confused, I really don't want to take a risk Please help Thank You Yours Sincerely

Dear Silvercragon102. Thank you so much for replying to my question so early. So do you think there is no way i could get a job? So i need to get employed as RN in hospitals (employer) in Canada to apply for PR right? Can i summit all necessary documents to Board of nursing in all different provinces and if they approves and accepts then I can move to Canada or do I need to be there while applying them? How about rural areas like Quebec? is RN high demand in rural areas? I dont mind working in Rural areas as long as I can practice and get PR. and my brother also wants to study RN course in Canada as well. Thank you for your time. Sun

Hi I have a great desire to immigrate to Canada and work as Med or Surg RN. I ve lived in NZ for 12 years and gained my Bachelor of Nursing degree and gained full registration license. I currently hold work visa hence I wasnt able to get into general hospital (NZ govt changede system that the only offer jobs to NZ permanent residents or Citizens). However working at private aged care facility as team leading role. My passion is to work in perioperative and surgical settings. If I move to Canada, what are the requirements as NZ nurse to gain Canadian RN registration and how to get into theatre or MED SURG nursing. Also i have studied in english country so do I need to get IELTS? what is SEC assessment? Can I choose my own specialty? Thank you PS. I am newly graduated.
