  1. Don't forget to email *** to join the facebook group!
  2. Congratulations! And yes, once you accept, it disappears. So don't worry about it.
  3. UTMB is a great school. But EXTREMELY unorganized.
  4. I can't believe that it's June and so many people still haven't heard back from UTMB.
  5. June 1 guys! Hopefully everyone is busy getting their acceptance letters today. :)
  6. I was actually accepted to UTHSC's program first. I didn't hear back from UTMB yet so I went ahead and accepted UTHSC. Now that I heard back from UTMB and accepted them, I just basically withdrew myself from UTHSC. You can always accept another school just to be sure. That way you have something to fall back on if UTMB doesn't accept you, although I hope you get in. So either way, whether UTMB accepts or rejects you, you still ensure that you are in a nursing program.
  7. Congrats! Send an email to Meg at mariorda at utmb.edu and she'll send you a link to join the FB group.
  8. Congrats! So are people now starting to get their acceptance letters? Guess UTMB is sending out letters again.
  9. Yay! Congrats on the acceptance. I can't wait to meet everyone in the fall. And you have to send Meg an email about the wanting to join the FB group.
  10. I'm pretty sure the traditional program is now 4 straight semesters. So Fall, Spring, Summer, and Fall. At least I think so.......
  11. Just wondering. But isn't this really early for orientation?
  12. Maybe they just mean the actual physical letter. Because I received the acceptance email a couple of weeks ago. They said the letter would arrive in the mail shortly after, but I still haven't received it. But when UTH said that I would receive the physical letter shortly after, I did actually receive it in the mail a couple of days later. Anyway, from what I've seen and heard, they usually email you first and get a letter through the mail later on.
  13. Good luck! You can always still relinquish your acceptance to HBU if you get into UTMB. That's what I'm doing. I already accepted UTH because I heard back from them first. But since UTMB accepted me, I'm just going to withdraw my acceptance to UTH.
  14. I found out by email. But you get an official letter in the mail a little later.
  15. Thanks! I just sent you an email!
  16. I was also surprised I got in because my transcript didn't get sent in until a month after the due date. For some reason, NursingCas never got my transcript the first time. So I had to send it in again. But luckily it worked out. I'm not particularly close with my cousins because they're a lot older than me, thats why I think it might be a little awkward and uncomfortable to stay with them. I'm sure everything will be okay. Like people have said, they don't look at just GPA and test scores, but your overall characteristics.
  17. Congratulations! I'm so excited to see that people are slowly, but surely, hearing back from UTMB. Hopefully everyone here gets accepted!
  18. My surprise was mainly due to my overall GPA. It's pretty low. I have cousins in Galveston that I could stay with. My family thinks that would be the best decision. But I don't know. I think I would feel sort of awkward just living there to go to school and leaving back to Houston for the weekends.
  19. Thanks! That's the same EXACT thing my sister was telling me. I wasn't sure if she was being biased or not. It's heartening to see other UTMB graduates feeling the same way.
  20. Hi all! I posted in the wrong section earlier. I confused the Spring 2013 thread with this Fall 2013 thread. Hahah But I just got accepted for Fall 2013! Yay! But I'm still hesitant because I also got accepted to UTMB so I'm trying to figure out which school is better for me. I know a lot of people have told me that UTHSC is EXTREMELY competitive and that they didn't particularly like the program when they were there. But it's such a highly ranked school and so convenient since it's in town. Decisions, decisions.......

  22. I live in SW Houston. Lol. My sister went to UTMB a couple of years ago. She drove back and forth Mon-Thurs. I mean, I don't mind the drive, but it's still a hassle. My stats aren't that great tbh. My overall GPA is only a 3.1. My science GPA is a 3.7. But my test score was really great, 99%. But other than that, I'm honestly surprised I got in.
  23. Hi, I've just recently found out that I was accepted into both UTHSC School of Nursing and UTMB School of Nursing. I have no idea which school I should choose. They both have their own pros and cons to them. UTHSC is a top-ranked competitive nursing school, both state-wide as well as nation-wide. But I've heard that a lot of people don't like the program or the professors. Some people have told me that they hated it there. But it is more convenient since I live in Houston already. UTMB is great, but not as highly-recognized as UTHSC. It is also all the way in Galveston. So I would either have to commute every day (1+ hour each way) or live there. But my sister went there for nursing and she highly recommends the program, saying that staff are really helpful about everything. Any feedback and advice you guys could give would be awesome! Thanks in advance!
