Westchester Community College(WCC) Spring 2014
Since you technically passed you will be able to take A&P2 and then you can take A&P1. So to be considered into the nursing program you will need to pass all your core classes with a c+ or better. Since the class aren't really related in terms of what you should know when going into A&P2 i don't think you would have an issue.

They forgot to give us the second page. I don't think the school is prepared for us on January . I mean come on we don't even know which days we will have our clinical yet. What you picked on the WCC website is not what you will get. See you guys on campus.

Orientation was awesome. Seems like we have people from all part of NY. The best thing is we only have to go in 2 days a week so it shouldn't be that bad. What i don't understand is why is there like 2-3 guys in the class. I thought the Nursing field WANT MORE GUYS, at this rate that will never happen.

I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. Because i know if there wasn't an English section i would get 99++ percentile. A lot of people who are trying to get in the nursing program can't seem to get over the English section. The day i went to take my Teas everyone were freaking out about the english section in general. All the damn answer seems right to me lol..

Do they not refill the seat? It wouldn't be any good for them to keep a vacant seat open at the start of a semester. I mean if you're half way through, then that would be understandably.

You can't really "Fail" the TEAS. Let's say 30 people get the highest score in the 50's(which is technically failing) they will still get in. Also remember a lot of those students probably didn't make it because we were chosen by the nursing department(getting the call) to see if we're interested so seats were limited. I don't think anyone can free-ride the nursing program without working for it. There are going to be times when you want to give up but you have to look past that and put the effort in(even if that means less partying, going out etc). Less than a week to go, honestly i am really interested to see who will be my fellow classmates for 2 years! ~I know none of us know each other and all, but it would be awesome if we could form some sort of study group to reflect on stuff we might be tested on etc~

If you don't feel like going in campus just to ask a few questions, i suggest you call them and ask. I believe fall 2014 session will be able to signup during march, but since they changed some of the sessions around, i am not 100% sure. Good luck.

That's the spirit! Don't make the same mistake i did with waiting for the last minute. There is a class that prepare you for the Teas, i suggest you take it. My biggest problem was i worked 12 hours a day except sundays and i felt so burned out i didn't even want to look at the book. The hardest part is to get in, once you do you're set. If you need to ask any questions about the Teas please don't hesitate, I wish you the best of luck!:)

I don't believe they base it on your GPA. The lady who proctor the Teas said "After everyone have taken the Teas, i am going to compile a list starting with the highest score to the lowest." Which leads me to believing that they are only picking students who score above the rest and is not dependent on GPA. However if you have let's say a 90 on the Teas and a GPA of 2...Then i don't even think you qualify for the nursing program. Remember there are some classes that you need to take them within x amount of years and if that time has passed you'll need to retake those classes, for example i believe A&P needs to be taken within 6 years of completing the nursing program for it to even count. They might for example look at your GPA from your core prereqs like Pharm, micro,a&p etc...But we have no way of knowing and when you do ask when signing up for the teas, the lady always say "They don't know.." You now stand a better chance of getting in since they are now offering a winter/fall class. Study, study and study and you'll get in. Good luck!

Westchester Community College(WCC) Spring 2014
I am a bit worried that mine doesn't say anything to do with Nursing. Glad you sent yours in, i don't want to be that person that gets kicked out because of a letter When you guys had to pick a major did you pick nursing? I was venturing into another major until i changed so mine shows what i was previously interested in. This is what mine says... Program: Math, Comp, etc. 2011-01-13: Active in Program 2011-01-13: Networking Major

Did you guys send back in the letter we had to check? Hopefully it gets there without getting lost.

The only bad thing about morning class is majority of students say they are not the "morning type." Fortunately for me i much rather having morning class/lab. What i am going to do is study/read daily so before an exam i don't have to cram everything at the same time. A study group is a must for nursing if people actually study/exchange ideas/questions.

Congrats on your acceptance. I didn't get my letter yet again(sigh). I wonder if this has to do with where you live from the school(I am in the Bronx)...I however did get the call from the 7909 number so i am not gonna stress myself out over it.

I am not sure if Pharm is offered during the summer but i know for a fact micro is, that way less stress on you. From what i hear this fall will be the last session where both evening/morning programs are offered, everything after that is morning(due to fund). I know my session is spring and i am so excited about it, i can only imagine how you guys are feeling. I have a feeling this nursing course is going to ruin my GPA...but time will tell. I understand the situation you're in and i would do the same if i were you, get over with everything in 2 year instead of 3. That way you can jump right into BSN and not wait. I can't believe i am up at 1:50AM typing this message lol..I myself wish i had used a recorder because i write so fast and crappy when i go home and try to study it's like another language for me, i had to rely on other multiple people's note, so don't be that guy who is literally trying to decipher the note a few day before exam. Is this going to be any different than like all the classes we took? I mean there are like 2 guys and 28 girls in the class, i hope it's more even this time.

That's like a grand of books right there. The main reason I didn't suggest taking those is because those classes are like 2 in one because they hammer in so much info within a 3 month period it's kind of crazy. When I took it it was literally pages and pages of drug that you had to know the pharmacy and generic names during exams. Please do yourself a favor and buy a recorder it will definitely come in handy. I myself will be needing to take some extra classes to satisfy my "full time" financial aid needs. I am sure you're capable of it but its going to be a long 2 year. Best of luck and who knows we may even cross path on campus(some of us will be a semester behind).

You're taking Pharm while being in the program? I hope you say no. He's no joke when it comes to pharm.

Westchester Community College(WCC) Spring 2014
She told me in about a month and I got my phone call on June 5th. Since we got in the morning program... It's going to suck for early morning exams lol..I had to make sure I wasn't dreaming too, checked my phone for a good hour to make sure it was true lol.. I don't recommend taking micro while taking nursing classes, can probably do it over the summer and don't risk failing. I took it and with lecture and lab.. It's way harder than a&p.

Westchester Community College(WCC) Spring 2014
Since i got a 95 on the Teas and they 'misplace' my paperwork they offered to kick someone out of either the evening or morning program to accommodate me, i declined because i know how important it is for them and i don't want a guilty conscience. I actually got accepted into the nursing program at 4 other schools, Concordia,Cochran, stony brooks and Lehman, but since i was offered a spot in the spring i accepted. We're going to be in the same class. Please do me a favor and take Microbiology and Pharmacology before you get in the nursing program. Those courses are rigorous when it comes to studying and the exams are out of the world. I suggest Dr.***** for Pharmacology and Prof. ***** for Microbiology they are the best. For statistics i suggest Prof. *****. It might be on a Saturday...but his exams are so easy and you guys review before the exam for the exam which is almost 100% the same. If you don't take stat this fall and start it while we're in the nursing program i can help. Congrats again. See you in orientation. @ Other nursing student - Please make sure to get your CPR class in before you start the nursing program, i believe it's a requirement. I am so excited to start and get over with this program..

Westchester Community College (WCC) Fall 2013
Thanks for the comfort guys. I have all prereq + micro + pharm + other classes. If i don't see anything by next week i am going in school to see what's wrong. The only reason i didn't apply to CNR and other colleges is money issues.
