  1. Hey everyone!!! Congrats on making it into the program for the spring!! I've just passed level one at UNLV and am enjoying this much needed two week break :) haha I will be meeting all of you at orientation on the 3rd! Feel free to respond if you have any questions or concerns because I know I was super anxious before school started last semester as well. Yay so happy for you and all and congrats once again! Prepare yourselves, because it's a whirlwind :)
  2. Wound up just buying the bundle from the bookstore since they finally came in. These books are huge!!! Maybe ill start skimming.
  3. Wow I didn't even think about using amazon I may have to try that. Do they have the online components and access codes that we need as well? And how long does it take to ship? I'm not sure if I'm too late now or just have to wait for the bookstore :/
  4. Thank you so much for this advice!!! It is so appreciated. And yes I do feel like I am buying so many things and there are always more lol but it's understandable! I am looking forward to orientation where they will hopefully give us more information. What study methods have worked best for you for your first semester? I'm also terrified of the lack of sleep I see people post about because I do not run well on no sleep, have you experienced this? Thank you for providing your email as well :)
  5. I said the exact same thing lol it makes no sense to me! But I am anxious/excited for orientation. I still need to purchase shoes and a watch for the program.
  6. Has everyone bought their books already? The bookstore is all out of stock so I'm stuck waiting lol.
  7. Thank you so much for this!! This was so helpful. I have already turned in most of my required paperwork and I was wondering if you had any recommendations on shoes to buy for the program? Also, what study method worked best for you your first semester? Did you use flash cards or more like outlines? Trying to get as many opinions as possible haha because this is all new to me. Thank you!
  8. For those of you that had your contract session today I hope it went well!! Hopefully this thread can be used to help each other out with our questions! Starting with, does anyone know when we get put into our clinical groups? Is it at orientation? Congrats classmates!
  9. WOW that's crazy!!! Congrats to everyone and everyone else keep your heads up and don't give up hope.
  10. Does anyone know if we are supposed to bring our shot records and things to the signing session or if that's just for orientation? I do believe the cutoff was probably higher for this semester because it seems that is increasing each time. People may have miscalculated their scores because the sheet can get confusing.
  11. There are 48 students accepted each semester!
  12. Thank you so much for all of this information!! I can't tell you how helpful all of this is! Do you register for your classes at orientation as well? And how is it determined which clinical day you will have? That schedule definitely does sound extremely busy so I hope I can learn to get my time management skills down.
  13. I have also been accepted into the program at UNLV for the fall!! Congrats classmate!! :) I'm right there along with you because I am super nervous and also tend to procrastinate so I'm trying to find out as much information as possible! To answer your question, I think it all depends on the person. I know that it takes me a little longer to retain information and get things down, so I personally don't plan on working until I get my time management skills down and learn how to study better. That being said, if working is a necessity for you than you can make it happen! Just be sure to balance everything and if your job is flexible hopefully they will understand if you need to cut down on hours some weeks. I don't believe we need our vaccinations or anything prior to orientation but I'm sure they'll let us know everything that we need to do. Mine is on the 22nd so ill be sure to post how it went! I'm not really sure what to study ahead of time but for right now I'm just trying to learn a little bit of medical terminology because my friend who is in the program said that helped her a lot. Im more worried about the financial aid because UNLV always seems to be pretty slow when it comes to that stuff. Otherwise, just try to enjoy the free time we have now because I'm sure we won't have much of it come September lol! If any students who are already in a nursing program have any advice for us please share!! Organizational tips? Study methods? Can't wait to meet you and everyone else who got accepted! :) Typing from my phone so sry for any typos!
  14. Does anyone know if our contract signing session the same thing as an orientation? Or are those two different things?
  15. Thank you for all of the info on the prices! Congrats to you all!! And to the others, I know the waiting is the hardest part!
  16. Okay thank you! And congrats :)
  17. Nita- Thank you! Fingers crossed for you as well! Does anyone know how much the uniform, drug test, and background check will be? I know they said to bring to a credit card but I was too caught up to ask the price.
  18. I JUST GOT THE CALL!! My contract signing session is July 22nd at 1 pm as well!!!
  19. I'm still waiting too! It's making me so anxious!! Trying to keep busy.
  20. Their definitely not going in alphabetical order. I know someone who received a call yesterday and their last name started with W. Hopefully they resume making calls tomorrow, we'll have to wait and see.
  21. I sure hope so! The 15th seems so far away haha trying to keep busy until then! Anyone else applying for fall 2013?
  22. I agree. I really hope they start to accept more applicants. I wonder what day they will start notifying if you've made the cut. These will be the longest few weeks of my life!
  23. That makes sense! I'm slightly concerned because I took chem back when it was still the two diff classes (which was awful btw) so I hope I calculated my points correctly!
  24. Hey I was there as well :) I was the one talking to the blonde girl and I was wearing a blue dress hahah. I'm glad its over too! I'm going to be so anxious waiting to find out! Good luck to you, I hope we both get in!
