  1. I voluntarily relinquished my RN license due to threats that I would be reported to the DOH for false allegations of sexual misconduct. The report was never made and now I want to try to get my license back. I have filed an application for licensure by endorsement as directed by the DOH in my state. There are no complaints or discipline against my license. Does anyone know if there is a possibility of getting in back?
  2. I Work for a physician office that is a branch of the hospital which has many physician specialties. I am thinking about getting a certificate in informatics and working for the medical office group. Is this even a thing? Are there jobs in nursing informatics in the outpatient environment?
  3. I guess I have to ask... More experienced in what? DO I AS A NURSE WHO WANTS TO WORK IN A CLINIC NEED MORE HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE?
  4. Yes, of course acute care will help an acute care NP, but my question was if only a year of acute care will hurt me as a FNP?
  5. I was wondering what the clinicals for FNP were like. Are they all in a primary care/pediatric clinic environment or are some in the hospital? Are we as students allowed to do anything or do we just watch? I am just curious as to what to expect.
  6. Just got hired at a cardiology office. Just wondering if it is typical for offices to be closed the Friday after thanksgiving and any other days that are not holidays like that. Thanks
  7. Yes, but do I need more hospital experience?
  8. Is it feasible to get a job as a FNP in an office/ clinic setting with only one year hospital experience? I worked in medsurg for a year and hated it. Now I am going to work in a cardiology office. I want to get my FNP but refuse to work in the hospital. Is this possible?
  9. Good thoughts. I hate medsurg because it is a race against the clock all day long. Plus all the interruptions with the phone. I don't mind the patients or their families for the most part (there are some exceptions). Maybe I should shadow someone for a day....
  10. I just finished my first year as an rn on a medsurg floor. I hate it of course. The next step for me is ICU I guess, but I really don't want to even go there because I am Scared of it. Did any of you feel this way before going into icu and love it now? I feel like it is my only choice... A way out of medsurg...plus gaining experience to go into all other things nursing (case mgmt, quality, administrative).
  11. I live in a tourist town, at the beach, so a lot of people want to live here but the only jobs are tourism and heathcare (58 bed hospital). The hospital has a good reputation so nurses drive past two crappy hospitals to work work at this one. The population here is 25,000. There are other hospitals an hour away, but i never see "data abstraction" jobs per say. I just dont know how to get my foot in the door. I would be happy to start small or commute even but i don't see any jobs for that. Can I call certain departments to ask? Thanks...
  12. How do you get data abstraction experience? I applied to two companies listed in this site, but they do not operate in my area. I live in a really small town. The quality department at my hospital requires 5 years data abstraction experience. Any ideas? Thanks!
  13. Thank you so much for all the info!
  14. Thank you so much for all the info! I will also dig deeper into this forum!
  15. What kind of education do you have other than rn. I have a bsn and thought maybe i should get some computer science ed too. But i coud also get informatics ed. I just dont know which would have more job opportunities..
  16. When I do a general search for jobs on indeed, i see more listings for systems analyst than informatics. Does anyone know what the dif is exactly and how best to get educated for a job in clinical systems analyst. Is one better than the other?
  17. I am an RN (scheduled to graduate with my BSN in December) who has one year med/surg nursing experience only. I would like to get into coding, clinical documentation specialist, quality, chart review. I applied for a job in the HIM department as a chart completion analyst, just to get my foot in the door in that department. I will take a $4/hr pay cut. Many of the Clinical documentation specialist jobs want 3 years clinical experience. Do you think only having 1 year clinical experience will hurt me? I do not want to go into any other aspect of bedside nursing.
