New Student at WCU
Hi guys! I'm enrolling at WCU in April 2013. I've compared WCU to a lot of other schools in the OC-LA area and really haven't been able to find another program like it. I've gone through the enrollment process, taken the HESI and registered for classes. I start in about a week but still have some concerns. After meeting with the school's advisor, fianancial aid, and dean, I've made up my mind to officially enroll and attend the school. PROS of WCU -3y3m BSN program (pre reqs included) -NO waitlisting or petitioning for classes -Faily easy and quick enrollment process -New term starts every 10 weeks -Small and clean campus -everything included in tuition -now officially WASC accredited CONS -Very unorganized school -136,000 tuition for the whole BSN program -crowded -poor professors that are pretty much good for nothing -no study area or cafeteria -stupid parking I start in about a week but still have a lot of questions and conerns like: -Will I be able to find a job after I'm done with the school? -Will I be able to pay back the massive loans? -Is a BSN that much better than ADN? -How did previous students manage to pay off the 100k loans? How long will it take? -Am I able to keep my job and go to school full time? I did ALL my research on this school and many others. I've only decided to attend this school because of the accelerated BSN program, and because I'm not able to get any of my pre req classes done at CC. I'm still young, so I'm able to explore all my options but if I'm able to finish school earlier, I'd very much rather do that but the cost for this school is a huge concern. I come from a huge single parent family, I have 4 siblings that are also in college, am I able to afford this school? I'm just so nervous that I won't be able to pay this loan off and it will take me a number of years. Right now I'm still living with my parents and really don't have to worry about any other expenses, but I have to think about the future when I'm done with school. I don't plan to still be living at home, I plan on buying a new car and renting out a home or apartment, with a huge loan like this, will I be able to? Will I stuggle to find a job in CA in this economy? Thank you guys for reading, I hope I can get some answers before I start school and it'll be too late.

West Coast University BSN FASFA/Goverment AID question?
I am attending WCU, I qualify for FAFSA for about 5k in grants and 10k in loans. FAFSA is based on my mom's income, she is a single mom with 3 kids attending college. I was hoping to get some more because my family really can't afford the crazy 136k tuition. I was approved for 56k loan for WCU and am starting in April. My private loan is from Sallie Mae and will pay for the first 2 years at WCU and on the 3rd year, I would have to take out another loan, depending on how much I can get in FAFSA, it might be another 40-50k loan, so in total I would owe about 90k. It seems liek a lot, monthly payments is estimated to be 1200 after I'm done with school and find a job. Wish me luck! I have decided that education is one of the best investments, it doesn't matter how much it costs. If you're serious about nursing, then go for it!

CNI College now opening RN program
Hi guys! I am starting at WCU this upcoming April. My cousin told me about the CNI ADN program. I was looking into it, but can confirm that CNI is not WASC accredited. Though there are some schools that do accept non accredited programs, it is limited. I chose to go to WCU because it is a 3 year BSN program. It's true that most employers now would rather hire BSN over ADN. West Coast University IS very pricey, price tag of 136,000 is no joke. I've done a lot of thinking, calculating, and comparing. Say you decide to go to CNI, the program is approx 25 months long (I spoke with one of the school's reps) and graduate with your ADN (assuming that you passed the entrance exam required and you are accepted by the dean of the school) you would want to go back for your bachelors or masters, which is another 20-25 months. IF you're able to find a school that will take you in for the BSN or MSN (because CNI is NOT WASC accredited) then you're looking to pay around 15k. So in total you'd be in school for 2 years at CNI, then after graduation, boards, and finding a job, you go back to school for another 2 years. That's 4-5 years to get your BSN and you're about 75k-80k in debt. At WCU, you'd graduate with your BSN in 3.25 years, they accept all students that have a high school diploma or GED and pass their entrance exam, your seat for the program is GUARANTEED and you can get financial aid like any other schools. I am getting some FAFSA, but will be taking out a 56k loan for WCU with interest on the loan, I'm looking at about $1200 monthly loan payment AFTER I'm done with school. It doesn't sound TOO bad, I would have graduated with a BSN in the 3 yeears. Sure, 1200 is almost double of what you would be paying back if you decided to go to CNI, but again, when you graduate, you're only going to have an Associates Degree and will have to compete with all the BSNs when looking for a job. Education will always pay off, that's what I think. My sister graduated from WCU and said it is costly, but she is now working at a huge hospital in Beverly Hills making 82k a year. Good luck with your studies!
