FNP Program University of Maryland Fall 2013
Again, don't give up hope. You got an interview which is a huge step towards admittance. The way that you felt during the interview is typical and I know others who felt this same way and got in. I'm not sure if you would be intersted in this, but if you don't hear by close to closing time there, why don't you give them a call? You could mention that you know of other applicants who received notice of their status and that you were checking to see if they could provide any information on yours as well. I really hope that you hear something today and think that they will probably want to finish the FNP applicants up by today as well.

FNP Program University of Maryland Fall 2013
Hi Roxxy--congrats on getting in! I did receive my official notice online that I was not accepted which wasn't too much of a surprise at this point. It just wasn't in the cards for me to start quite yet. My friend who is in the program described the instructors as "really nice" and "cool", so I'm sure you will really enjoy the program.

FNP Program University of Maryland Fall 2013
No, still committee ready. We have to hear something by this week. I just want an official notice at this point. My co-worker who applied to the Acute Care/CNS program found out that she got in last Thursday. Her status changed in the computer and she received a call from the school on the same day. When I did a search for FNP UMD on this site prior to placing my post, I noticed that people who applied back around 2009 were still waiting to hear something about admission into this program in late April maybe even early May. I hope this is not the case for us. Fingers crossed that we will know by the end of this week.

FNP Program University of Maryland Fall 2013
Hi roxxy--Thanks for the compliment! I did not apply anywhere else, but it will be okay if I don't get in. I may decide to apply to MD again and probably Hopkins as well which may be a bit more convenient for me. It's been a while (15 years) since I've been in school with the exception of a couple grad courses 12 years ago and I did not realize how competitive these programs have gotten. The only problem is that not getting in for the Fall will hold me up a full year since Hopkins only admits for the Fall and I think that the next available semester for MD will be the Fall of 2014 as well with the DNP conversion. I'm on a bit of a roll now with taking the Pharm course last Fall and currently finishing the Pathophys course at MD. I would of liked to continue on, but it's okay if not. I just have to figure out what held me from getting an interview. I will probably email the director of the program to get some insight once I get official notice.

I called the school right before they closed yesterday and was told that decisions would be out by Wednesday of next week.

FNP Program University of Maryland Fall 2013
Babyrn--I'm finding that there seems to be a lot of mystery with this process so I wouldn't take this to mean that you didn't get in. It is great that you got an interview. They may just be going in aphabetical order or have the sequence of mailings grouped in other ways instead of starting with the acceptances then rejections.

FNP Program University of Maryland Fall 2013
Hi Roxxy3773. It sounds very promising that you received an interview. My friend who currently is in the FNP program there received an interview and was waitlisted, but called shortly afterwards when a spot opened up. Honestly, I am a bit perplexed by why I was not at least called for an interview based on my experience, grades from school, resume, etc.--I felt like I had all my ducks in order, but I'm really not sure exactly what they are looking for. All my experience is with adult ICU so this may have been my downfall. I'm sure that the applications are up for this Fall are due to the transition to DNP coming around the corner. Did you apply to attend full time? I applied part time and was just wondering if this may have caused me to not get a call. I know a couple RN's who are currently in the acute care program part time and they told me that they are really being pushed to attend at close to full time status since the school wants to quickly finish up with the MSN degrees.

FNP Program University of Maryland Fall 2013
My application still says "committee ready". I am currently taking the Pathophys class under Course Work Only status and I stopped by the office a couple weeks back on my way to class. The admissions rep told me decisions would be out by the middle of April. I figured that since I did not even get a call for an interview that it is likely I was not accepted. I'm a bit surprised, but was told by others that this is how it is nowadays with grad school. I work with someone who applied for the Acute care program. She had her interview on March 25th, but has yet to hear. Can you let me know if you get a call or if your status changes in the system? I will let you know as well. Thx!
