  1. Hey bel15ver! I'd say the biggest thing that would help is experience working with kids. Ideally you will do your internship in peds, but if that isnt possible then a history of working with kids or volunteer work will go a long way. My thought is that any hospital can train a new grad RN, but working with peds is a whole different playing field :) Good luck to you as you finish nursing school and start applying to jobs!
  2. searched for the FB group and nothing came up
  3. private FB page for our cohort sounds great!
  4. Theres a handful of us from Cali... I dont know about you, but I am in for a shock when we have an actual winter in CO!! Cant wait to meet everyone!
  5. Received an offer from the 8th floor! I too will be relocating from out of state. Congrats to those who have been offered positions and good luck to those still waiting to hear!!
  6. I interviewed for the medical unit. They told me they were hoping to choose by the end of today; so it could be as early as next week they start making calls for offers, but it could be as long as a couple weeks depending on references. Fingers crossed for all of us!
  7. Not sure about the exact type of questions, but I would think they would relate to why this hospital/unit and past clinical experiences (since thats all we have to go off of r/t nursing). New grad programs in CA are pretty competitive, especially peds. I did my internship at the childrens hospital by me and still didnt get an interview! Fingers crossed our interviews goes well!
  8. I have an interview too! I heard that for those only interviewing for 1 unit, one of the interviews is with ppl from the unit and the second interview is with the nurse managers and the new grad program director. But thats how it was for the march program, so who really knows if it will be the same this time around. Good luck to everyone! Where is everyone from? Ill be traveling from CA
  9. Thanks for posting that update @rucana... I would have just assumed I didnt get an interview! And the waiting continues
  10. congrats on the job!! good luck to you @nurse_2365 as you begin your peds career
  11. no idea how many people applied, but just like all new grad programs nowadays, its competitive
  12. I like how they have a timeline of event - applications, review, interviews, and start date. This really helps lessen the anxiety of just waiting around without any idea of how long you will have to wait or why you havent received a call yet! The waiting part kills me!!
  13. I didn't find another topic relating to the new grad RN program for Children's Hospital Colorado, so I decided to start a thread. Anyone else apply for the August cohort? I live in San Diego right now, but have visited Denver a handful of times and really love it out there. I dont know too much about Children's CO, so if anyone would like to share any advice or info I would love to hear it!
