Well congratulations! I cannot imagine how good it must feel : ) Every time I get a call from a number I do not know my heart starts racing….until I answer it and it is not from MUSC :''''(. Does anyone know when people will start getting their Financial Aid packages? I think someone from MUSC told me that sometimes people drop after those go out.

Were you accepted from the alternate list for this fall? When did you receive a call?

Still no change in my status.....hopefully I haven't annoyed them to the point where they don't want to let me in lol. If only they had a ranking system.... Any other alternates out there that have received a call?

It's definitely been 3 weeks (I think like 7!) since letters were sent, which makes me think if you haven't received a call that everyone sent back their letters : ( I'm assuming now its a waiting game to see if anyone decides to drop. Boo!

Also-what immunizations do you need?

Hey Willxk! I was told that they give out of state students 3 weeks to "reserve" their spot, but I can't remember if that is from the time they send letters out or from the time you receive your letter. I received my letter over 3 weeks ago so hopefully you will get a call soon! I may send an email today to ask if there has been any movement on the alternate list yet. I finally received my letter last week as well. Hopefully some people start declining soon so they can make some room for alternates :) If anyone is on the alternate list and gets a call, let us know! I know I'm not at the top of the list but am anxious to know when they start calling alternates.

Haha thanks guys....I just wish I would know now, and not a week before school starts, if I will be getting a spot or not...makes it a little hard to plan-especially since I am currently working full time. But I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best! Hopefully they will get those dang letters out soon so people can start making decisions!

Bummer....that probably means that I will not get a spot, even if I am on the alternate list, since I'm probably way down on the list.

Willxk, that's weird, but awesome! I wish I was getting that same letter : / Speaking of letters, has anyone received theirs yet? Since I'm an alternate, I'm anxious for people to receive their letters, so hopefully spots can open up soon! Also to Willxk and any other alternates: I talked to three different people about the alternate list (can you tell I'm anxious about it?) and what I got from them is that they do NOT rank the alternate list, so there is no way of knowing where you fall on that list (really not sure why but she said for "various reasons"), usually they have movement on the list about one month after people are sent letters and then again immediately before classes start. I'm really hoping anyone who is unsure about attending doesn't wait until the last second to drop though....hopefully people start dropping immediately and you and I will both get a call soon! I bet if they have already reserved a spot for you in spring of 2015 that you must be #1 on the alternate list.

mamagui...looks like you'll be the class president :) I am already feeling anxious and hoping for a call when it's only been one day! Willxk did you confirm what you heard about admission for 2015 for alternates? I asked about ranking for alternates and she said that "it is not ranked right now..." I didn't want to bother her more since I already had sent a couple emails, but I'm assuming that means that it will be ranked, it just hasn't been done yet. If anyone knows if this is true, let me know! I will likely call next week to ask but don't want to annoy them too much :)

Hey ml52789, do you know if any alternates were offered spots other than the 4-5 that received spots right before the start of the semester?

The director of student affairs said that they do move through the alternate list, especially for students with out of state status, so don't lose hope yet Willxk! She said that there were three people who were offered admission the Thursday before the semester started though, so it could be at any time!

Crap maybe that means only those that are out of state and on the alternate list are guaranteed. I hope not. Dang it! Did she just offer the information to you or did you ask? I was also super nervous so I wasn't thinking to ask those questions other than where I was on the list.

Yikes 30 seems like a lot. Super excited that means I'm guaranteed for the spring though! I had no idea. Im really sorry garcias! I was rejected last spring too. It's a terrible feeling! Did you apply to any other programs? Also curious, is anyone that was accepted waiting to hear from other schools as well?

Congrats y'all! If anyone calls and is on the alternate list, see if you can find out how long it is and how many people are usually offered a spot that are on it! Also, for those that have been accepted, did they tell you when you have to make a decision by?

Also...if anyone knows anything about the alternate list please let me know! I have no idea how many people are on it and she said she couldn't tell me "at this time" how far down the list I am.

Alright guys...I just called. I didn't make the cut. Feeling super bummed right now. She told me I'm on an alternate list and there is a "very good chance" that I will be offered a spot since I am in state. But they told me last cycle there was a good chance I'd be accepted if I applied in state, so I'm not going to keep my hopes up. Good luck to everyone! Maybe there are lots of people who are brilliant and got into 5 other schools and decide on a school other than MUSC so a spot opens up : / I hope all of you get some good news soon!
