  1. I'm in!!! I'm beyond excited and almost screamed in the middle of class! Received at 1107 CT!
  2. Student loans are the absolute worst! I'm currently looking for various organizations that offer scholarships. We'll all be in the same boat soon. I was working part-time until 2 weeks ago. It was a pain and always felt like I needed to be studying instead of working my desk-job. Again, I'm only able to NOT work because I received max amount of aid for this semester. I know it'll suck the life out of me later on, but that was the only way to do it. As far as textbooks go, I was able to get most of mine from other students and that saved a couple hundred dollars. You also maybe able to find some at Half Price Books. Amazon is great too, but you'll still need to purchase access codes from the publisher. Congrats on your acceptance!! Enjoy your "freedom" while it lasts :)
  3. dg, you are so on top of things, I love it! I'm hoping a lot of our texts are used next term too so supplies won't cost nearly as much. I'm starting to think about nuts and bolts survival right now. Like, I have to clearly cut my hours at work so I won't be eligible for health insurance and I'm way over the age limit to be on my parents' plan. What do I do about complying with ACA? I'm having word vomit right now, but it's helping me keep from freaking out. :)
  4. geez, can we get a grant for textbooks?! My wallet is not liking this business so far :-/
  5. No letter and haven't had a response about the scholarship either.
  6. dg, here's the link to the BLS class I signed up for: https://enjoycpr.com/index.php?option=com_registrationpro&view=event&Itemid=3&did=12545 let me know if it doesn't work
  7. There are soooo many documents to scan! I've been working like crazy on that stuff. Also, just signed up for a Health Provider BLS course on December 7th! Don't you just love the added costs so far? Oh well, we're all in it together :)
  8. i feel ya...today i paid for a cpr class and my background check and that's just the tip of the iceburg.
  9. I submitted new letters, new app fee, updated transcripts, and a resume (but this wasn't directly required the last time I applied). I did not write a new essay.
  10. dg, I sent you a pm. ladeey, have you tried emailing? Hang in there...
  11. Do you know those dates yet? Is this the info you received in the email?
  12. I reapplied for Spring '14 and was accepted.
  13. Stkn, Yes, I was accepted this time around. I guess acceptance is in waves since I was called last week and was given the 11/18 deposit deadline. I agree with Dean816: #3 is a solid position. good luck! Dean816, That's awesome! See you soon. Did anyone go to the Explore Nursing session last Monday?
  14. Also, the deposit for incoming students is early next week so they'll probably be able to pull people off the list soon after.
  15. I definitely don't know the number, BUT I was #61 and when I emailed at the end of July, I was #31.
  16. omg! I had the WORST exam experience when I took the TEAS. I took it in a room with about 30 other people and each person had individual ibooks. About 10 mins into the test, the girl next to me stretched out her feet and pulled the power cord out of my laptop and the whole thing shut down. The proctor had to turn the computer on and enter the password. The test automatically paused so I didn't lose official time, but I annoyed and it ruined my flow. Then...I'm not kidding...this happened AGAIN! I was sitting at the end of the row (just in case I needed to run to the bathroom or something) so the power cord was pulled pretty tightly to reach the power strip in the center. So I took the opportunity to use the restroom while the proctor was logging in once more. When I returned, the ATI site wouldn't let me log on so now I had to waste time and contact the ATI "expert" on the campus since the proctor had no idea what to do. I felt bad for everyone in the class because it was definitely distracting. After the 3rd time (THIRD!!!) of having the girl kick my cord out and disconnecting my computer, I convinced the proctor to let me take my laptop and change seats to a personal desk in the back of the room. This worked out because I had a bunch of elbow room and didn't get distracted by anything. Even though it took a long time to actually get situated and into the groove of the exam, I didn't lose any "official" time. I was the last person in the room, but ended up finishing before I thought I would. Also, I was pretty pleased with my score :) Try to relax before your test. Do something you enjoy the day before (with minimal studying, if any) and get a good night's rest. Good luck!
  17. Awesome! Congratulations!
  18. Good news here...I received a call today! I'm waiting for the letter before I announce it to my family though. Yes, I'm a bit of a skeptic.
  19. sad face. I checked my mail and don't have a letter either.
  20. Really? How do you know? Great! I thought they typically call all the accepted applicants. I really hope that's not the case since I haven't received a call. fingers crossed!
  21. I received my official stand-by notice today. #61 is not too promising. There's major editing mistakes on this letter. Way to add insult to injury, St. Luke's. Yes, my ego is bruised, but I'll take some serious time before deciding to re-apply.
  22. do you know if they hang on to transcripts/TEAS score from the previous app? I really don't want to shell out more $$ to have my info sent again.
