  1. How was everyone's first day? Was it what you expected? I am still pretty nervous about juggling work and school but I know it's possible if I work hard.
  2. You can use your student ID and schedule I know but I'm not sure about your DL. Is the badge different from our student ID? I was planning on just getting a badge holder for my ID because I thought they were the same but if not I definitely need to get one of those too.
  3. I am going to try to go Monday afternoon close to the end of the day or flex time and go on my lunch break. Thanks for the well wishes! Hopefully I can get what I need and be out fast. I wish they had the nursing books at the Huntsville campus bookstore. See you Tuesday! :)
  4. I'm PTE also. Guess that's why ours was the same :)
  5. That's the same email I have too, Allonsy. I think it's for people who bought the book used and it's a previous edition. As long as we have the fundamentals book we should be fine. I am going to get my books Monday. I hope it's not a madhouse lol
  6. Is everyone wearing their uniforms the first day? I don't think it's mandatory but I don't want to be the only one not wearing it if most people are.
  7. You don't have to have it yet but when they come in we will have to get one. My Dr. just made a note on my form that it's not in season yet. I signed the waiver also but I will get it and upload it to them in a couple of months.
  8. Only a few more days! I am super nervous! Did anyone else have a delay in the background and health fees being taken from their bank accounts? Mine finally went through yesterday after almost two weeks.
  9. I have the Classic II S.E. On the Littmann site it has a profession selector to suggest one and that's one of the ones that came up for nursing. I have also heard the same about jewelry and perfumes. I also heard that your hair has to be worn back in a ponytail or something if it's longer. I'm pretty surprised they didn't cover that.
  10. My hubby bought me a Littmann a month or so ago. Working as a CNA previously I would say to splurge if you can for a good one. Taking manual blood pressures and patient assessments are hard to do if you can't hear clearly. I always had trouble hearing with my cheaper one but when I tried the Littmann it was a huge difference! Allheart.com is running a sale on them now.
  11. Almost time for orientation!!! I'm so excited and ready to get this over with!
  12. I've heard that too about orientation. Basically they tell you how difficult it will be and that not everyone will make it. If we have made it this far I know we can make it all the way! I just bought my uniforms and labcoat plus ordered all the misc supplies. All I need now are books but I am waiting until orientation for that. I didn't know this but parkway scrubs keeps calhoun's patches in stock. Saved me a trip to Decatur, lol
  13. I bought a pair of Dansko clogs from The Walking Company. They are so comfortable! Ugly though, lol
  14. We should start with everyone else on the 18th. The closer it gets to August, the more nervous I am! I'm trying to do as much as I can before orientation so I'm not rushing at the last minute and it's not all out of pocket at once. Nursing school is going to be tough but I feel like it's worth the time and $$. :)
  15. That's a lot cheaper! If it's the same books and versions (not a calhoun specific one) I am definitely going through amazon. Are we going to have to buy this many books every semester? If so I see all of my money flying away
  16. Maybe we could make a Facebook group or a group on here if there is an option. I'm Adina Breedlove :)
  17. I'm nervous and scared too. I think we will all be fine though. We can do this! I can't wait to hopefully meet everyone at orientation! :)
  18. It was the same for me and the chicken pox. I think as long as you get the titer to show immunity you are fine. I'm 28 so I'm starting late also. There's nothing wrong with a career change later in life :)
  19. I started on them earlier this year but the tb test is two weeks and the hepatitis shots are every couple of months but as long as you start the hepatitis series you're fine. I still have to go back for the physical, hepatitis shots, and have a titer done for chicken pox but I am going to do that after orientation.
  20. I am getting nervous about everything and having it all together in time. I wonder how much time they will give us to have everything turned in after orientation? I wish it was a lot sooner. I hate doing things the last minute
  21. I have used it to rent a book before and it was easy. Just keep the box and print off a label at the end of the semester and you're done. Sometimes they even offer an ebook you can use until yours comes in.
  22. I'm doing the PTE program with Health Assessment and Pharmacology the first semester but they are listed as 1 credit hour each so I would only be billed for 2 hours right? I will probably have to take another class to be part time since I have all of my pre-reqs for Calhoun already. I figured I would work on BSN classes in the meantime.
  23. I'm not sure of all the details for the nursing club but I think you get the option to join during your first semester. How many uniforms should we buy? I am doing PTE so I'm thinking two should be enough. Im trying to find out how the hours are billed for classes also. Anyone know for sure if it's by credit hours?
  24. You might be able to pick the classes from the bookstore list and see some of the required books. I am going to wait to buy books to use my loan to pay for them since I think some need codes and are e-books. Everything else I am starting to buy now. My hubby ordered my stethoscope yesterday and I'll probably get the rest of the smaller things in the next week or two. Do they carry our school patches at Parkway Scrubs or any of the other shops? Just wondering if I need to buy patches at Calhoun to take with me to buy uniforms.
