  1. Location: Long island NY Education: BSN no experience Pay: 70k start ~5k night diff & another 5k when you complete 1 year. excellent benefits & retirement Work: medical surgical unit
  2. About mid 40s an hour at LIJ and I don't know what their benefits are like as I did not accept a position there, but I haven't heard any complaints from my colleagues that did take the job. I've heard nothing but great things about them.
  3. When I interviewed at hospitals, I sent them a thank you email and card about 2-3 days after my interview. In the email I also asked about how long the wait will be before I heard anything. However, two out of the three hospitals I interviewed for told me "you should hear back from us in about X weeks". So I only had to ask one hospital that in the thank you email. They are extremely busy during this time due to all the new grads popping out and applying everywhere so sending a thank you (with a question if you have) would not be a bad thing in my opinion. It may even help you stand out from the piles of applications they have to sort through. Best of luck.
  4. Hey guys, I recently graduated with my BSN and remember there being a thread that named the hospital and starting salary a couple of years or so ago. I just thought I would give updated information based on job offers I have received and from what my classmates have told me. These offers are for New Grads. Hope this information helps some people and maybe other people can add to the list. StonyBrook 70k to start 5k night differential Southside 82k w/ night diff Mather mid 70k days LIJ 84k w/ nights
  5. Thank you for the info! I also hope they offer the financial aid package soon. Good luck on your summer classes! 8-)
  6. Hey guys, I was wonderong if anyone has received any information on orientation or anything extra besides being accepted. I am just waiting to finish up my micro class that ends early July and for my official transcript. I have yet to be offered any financial aid packages (on solar) or any specific details. Also, does anyone know when the program officially begins? I was super excited to be accepted but now feel lost with lack of detail and with my unfamiliarity with the solar system. Maybe I'm asking for too much information too soon but if anyone knows the details it'll help me relax B-)
  7. I just received an acceptance via email. I guess keep an eye on your inbox. Good luck everyone.
  8. I see someone already answered the schedule question. As for the math, the email tells you exactly what you need to know. Let me quote it. "The interview process includes a group interview with several other students and faculty, a brief writing sample and brief math exam. The math exam will include basic math in the areas of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, percentages, fractions and algebra." So just be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals, percentages and fractions. Also, be prepared to convert one to another. This isn't really any inside scoop as the email tells you exactly what you need to know. Good luck! And anyone who didn't go in yet I would look over a few practice problems just to review. I got a little cocky and didn't review and was lost with 2 of the math problems. It is very simple but it is math I haven't done in years. I can't believe I'm giving so much advice to my competition, lol. Well, best of luck to everyone.
  9. So I had my interview yesterday and everything you need to know has already been stated on this thread. What they did say was that interviews will go on until the end of march and that acceptance denial and wait list status will be given out around April to May. 80 will be accepted and 20 will be wait listed. Good luck everyone.
  10. According to the email I got, the math is basic algebra that will not require a calculator. It should be fairly simple. I would just Google a basic algebra test and see if you'd be confident answering the questions. If you struggle with it then I would definitely practice. I'm sure there are plenty of apps for algebra practice regardless of what smartphone OS you are running.
  11. I have mine tomorrow and this week has been crazy for me as well. I had a test Monday and a lab practical Wednesday all while freaking out for my interview. I don't know why I am so nervous, lol. Worst comes to worst I can reapply next year and there is always Farmingdale.
  12. I doubt anyone will hear anything new until the interviews are all done. I don't recall what the last scheduled date was. Maybe someone else recalls that information. I have my interview later this week, if I hear any new info I'll definitely post it.
  13. Well, compared to that, yes the odds are good. Good luck!
  14. Wow, so only about 43% of people being interviewed will be accepted. That figure didn't help my nervousness. Thank you for the information.
  15. Wow, 180 students are being interviewed? Does anyone know how many on average get accepted?
