  1. I'm doing fairly well in my A&P 1 class (I have a B). But I don't feel like I'm retaining any information. I study for my quizzes and exams and when we move on to new material I forget almost everything I have learned previously. I am pretty confident with identifying bones and muscles, but not so much with the other topics. I try to look back at my notes, but the course that I am in is accelerated so I honestly don't have a lot of time to go over previous material. I've never been so stressed out before in my life, between working full time and my summer classes I have no time to relax and my classes aren't over until the end of July. I understand that nursing school is hard and challenging, but I never thought my anxiety would be this bad. I'm so worried about A&P 2 and Microbio next year because I don't feel as if I am truly grasping the information in A&P 1 now. Any advice on what I should do?
  2. Thanks for your response! So would you recommend that someone should go into nursing then? I'm mainly concerned about family time for my children.
  3. I'm considering switching my major into nursing. I have already gotten into a great program and everything, but I'm still undecided. I have a few questions.. I heard that there really isn't a nursing shortage just a lack of experienced nurses. Is this true, what is your take on this? Also, I hear many nurses complaining about their jobs. Some say that they hate the career they chose, my mother being one of them. She doesn't exactly have my back on this whole nursing idea. So do many nurses hate their careers? I know I shouldn't rely on the internet, but I see so many nurses complaining about their jobs and most of the nurses I know just seem miserable. My last question is how much family time do you have? Nurses typically work 12 hour shifts. My mom was able to raise me fine on her own, but I am an only child and I would like to have more than one someday. Thanks in advance!
  4. Currently, I am a sophomore business student. I have been debating switching from accounting to nursing over the past 6 months. If I choose nursing my goal is to become a NP. I know I will not be happy as a floor nurse the rest of my life. I know getting into a NP program is difficult and I have not seen one school that requires less than a 3.0 GPA. I have a 3.0 in my business program, but I am not sure how I will fair in the science classes required for nursing. I have been accepted into a nursing program by the way. Any advice on what path I should choose? How hard is it really to get into NP school? My heart is literally torn between business and nursing. One of the main reasons I am not 100% for nursing is the hours, meaning holidays and weekends. I want to be there for my kids as much as possible. Do any of you know anyone who regrets nursing? I know some people regret going in to the business field. Please help me out, thanks in advance!
  5. I plan on taking A&P 1 this summer and A&P 2 in the fall. I really nervous because I am actually doing really good in my business classes and I'm afraid of doing bad in my science classes when I switch my major.
  6. Thank you so much! I'm finally serious about what I want to do with my life. I'm nervous and alittle scared, but I think I can do it!
  7. Currently, I am a business major, but recently I was accepted into Saint Francis University's pre-nursing program. If I get atleast a 3.0 in the program I will be able to declare my nursing major. They also allow you to take 2 nursing courses before being fully accepted. I realize the science classes will be hard, but honestly how tough are they? I have the work ethic I am just worried it will not be enough. I haven't taken a lab science since high school and I currently have a 2.9 GPA at my other school due to slacking freshman year and honestly not caring. Now I am ready to get my head on my shoulders and go after my dreams of being a nurse. So has anyone gotten there BSN through Saint Francis? And how tough are the sciences, honestly. (A&P, Chem, Microbio) I have extremely bad anxiety, any advice would be helpful. Thank you!!
