  1. Hello all! It has been a while since I posted.... Welcome everyone to RODP. I am registering for my 3rd semester (took time off and joined the Air Force- now working on it part time again :-)) I have three classes left prior to my clinical classes start which are Advance Pharm, Patho and Research. I am considering taking patho and pharm together and research by itself in spring. What do ya'll think? I know some of you have finished these classes. I am curious about time consumption. I am still Active duty work schedule is a good M-F 7-430 for the time being. Thanks for all input! Happy summer classes to those enrolled :-)
  2. I booked at comfort inn on w. South blvd freedlyf
  3. So I am finally packing and was wondering... Do we need to pack hangers or will there be some? Is there a requirement on if they need to be plastic or wire? Also do we need to pack an alarm clock...
  4. Thanks for the advice. I ended up going on our local army base and getting one for 99 bucks at AAFES. Still pricey but it's pay as you go and I will always have it for later use if needed.
  5. I was informed tethering my laptop to my smartphone may not be as beneficial as an actual hotspot and that you may not always be able to pull out your phone to connect to.
  6. So I am looking at hotspots through my cell carrier (Verizon) and for pay as you go the cheapest is 199.99! I'm only going to use it the 5 weeks I am there and really don't want to spend that much or sign a contract... Does anyone have any suggestions for hotspots?
  7. Ok, I believe I have asked this question before and if I did I apologize. When we arrive to COT I am thinking I will leave everything in my vehicle except for a backpack which will have all my important paperwork in it needed for in processing. Will this be ok, or should I carry all my bags in? And if I leave them in my vehicle when will I be able to retrieve my luggage with my uniforms and clothing in it? Thanks!
  8. Bogielea, another person on here also just bought his gear without orders. He contacted his sponsor and his sponsor told him he would be able to buy without orders. All you need is a way on your local base. Someone with an ID or you can get a visitor pass at the main gate.
  9. My recruiter took me after swearing in in Feb. I didn't have to have my orders with him with me. I wouldn't recommend buying online because you should really try everything on.
  10. Thanks. I have already purchased everything except the ribbons, ribbon mounts and hydration system. I will hold off on them until I arrive at COT.
  11. jfratian, I noticed on the COT uniform packing list that hydration system is listed, but I also seen on another site created by a previous COT class that one will be provided to you on the 1 or 2nd day of training. Did you purchase one before hand or was one provided to you? Thanks
  12. Eglin was 3rd on my list. Andrews was my top choice. I hope y'all get y'all's orders soon. My recruiter said mine came last PM.
  13. I received my orders!!!!
  14. Awesome and welcome Brad! Where will you be heading once COT is completed? I am heading to Andrews
  15. Let us know of your arrival time/day. I plan on arriving the day before and trying to meet up with fellow cot trainees then get together the next day to report
  16. There is now a FB page for Our COT class in August. Search Air Force COT Class 14-06.
  17. Hey JillyRN, empty your mailbox please :-)
  18. Who is planning on arriving to COT the day before we are to report in?
  19. Thanks jfratian. I have already started working on the memorization items including rank structure and alphabet since I'm not prior service. I have read through the manual 3 times and am working on the fourth time. Academically I have no worries, it's the other aspects that have my nerves up some. I was in JROTC in high school so I have some experience in drill/marching and such just on a smaller scale. I have purchased all my uniforms and will be having them altered this week. Like I said it's the unknown and it is nice to here from prior Cot trainees.
  20. So as our COT date is nearing I am finding myself a little more anxious/nervous. Mostly over the unknown. I have read multiple blog and informational sites but it's not enough for me. I have always been a planner and I feel like planning for this is difficult because of the unknown. ( something I am going to have to get use to lol) So like I said, exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. I was wondering if anyone would like to meet up at Maxwell to report in as a group. If so let me know. I was reading on a blog that said they did this and it eliminated some of the jitters of the first day report in nerves. Also I have read a couple of different answers to this question so I want to ask again for those who have recently completed COT... What do you recommend we carry on us when we report in? Should we carry all our belongings we take or just a bag with important documents and leave the rest in the car until after the initial reporting in? Hope everyone one is enjoying the summer and I can't wait to meet in August!
  21. Hey guys! Just wanted to drop a line its been a while since I posted. I still don't think it has completely sunk in that I am in the Air Force and leaving for COT in August. Does anyone have any tips on the moving process? I currently live in TN and will be going to Andrews in MD after training. I have a son that is 11 and schools up there start the same week I leave for COT. Right now I am planning on moving early august and getting him settled for school then drive down to Maxwell. Just wonder how the move went for others and if starting the move first of August will allow ample time and no rush right before COT starts on the 18th. Also is there anyone that has been to Andrews? What is the area like? Any advice on areas to look for housing and areas to avoid? Schools to avoid? I have been doing research on school grades and realized Prince George County Schools is one to avoid. I appreciate everyone that has posted their experiences and tips. Its nice to have an idea of what to expect.
  22. Bayern, Clean your mailbox :-) No I haven't registered for my ADLS yet. I seen it on the inbound COT trainees website but I plan on asking the recruiter when it can be completed.
  23. Thanks for the info Dreaming1007. Do you have any tips or advice in general about COT and preparing for COT?
  24. We are planning on renting ours through a property management group which should make it somewhat easier. I have also heard that as officers we will not receive clothing allowances, but I could be mistaken.
  25. Bayern, I haven't heard about the sign on bonus. I opted for student loan repayment and my recruiter said I will be receiving that.
