I am so excited for FNP orientation and to meet all of you! I am coming from Brooklyn, NY and plan on taking LIRR to get to orientation. I looked up the train schedule and the earliest train gets to Stony Brook at 746a and then I would have to take the shuttle or an über/taxi. It will definitely be cutting it close! I was wondering if anyone lives close to campus that wouldn't mind have me stay overnight the night before? Or is anyone coming from the NYC area that would want to carpool? Another idea I had is to get a hotel room at the Hilton on campus but that's like $230 a night so that is worst case scenario. But if we shared it with like 4 girls that might not be so bad. PM me if any of the options sound interesting to you!! Can't wait to get started with school.

Any advice when you get sick while working night shift? I came down with a cold about two weeks ago and then worked one shift. Then, still sick, I had to work two night shifts in a row during the bad snow storm bc we were short staffed. I called out sick for my 3rd shift. But my cold got worse from all of that working overnight. I had 4 days off so I thought I'd get better. After my days of rest, feeling better, I went back to work for a shift and it was awful!! I finally went to the doctor and had to start antibiotics bc my cold turned into acute sinusitis. I learned my lesson and called out sick for the next two shifts. Now I am finally feeling better. Do you think working nights screws with your immune system worse than working a 12 hour day shift? I wish I would have never worked while I was sick. It made me worse and not to mention having to interact with patients while I have a runny nose, sore throat, cough and barely any voice left by the end of my shift! The patients must have been scared of me! Also, I put my other co-workers in a bad situation because I was definitely contagious. Oh well that's probably a topic for another board - working while your sick. I think night shift makes it worse though.

I got in too! I woke up around 430p (night shift RN) to find the email I've been waiting for since November in my inbox! Yay! So excited! Congratulations to all that got in! Can't wait to meet you at orientation!!! I am on Cloud 9!

I emailed Stony Brook yesterday to follow up on my application and this what she said. "We are in the process of wrapping up reviewing applications, decisions will be sent as soon as possible". Ughhhh couldn't be more vague. We just have to be patient, stay positive and wait

How did the interviews go?! Did they give an update on when we might find out if we are accepted?

I am also from NY. I live in Brooklyn so it took me a good 2 hours to get there and then 3 hours to get back bc of traffic. I will be taking LIRR if I get in because I'd rather sit on a train and study than deal with traffic. Has anyone heard anything yet? I interviewed in Nov and still haven't heard a peep. I am guessing we won't hear till next month or maybe even February if they aren't able to attend the Jan meeting! This waiting is driving me nuts but guess just gotta be patient :)

I interviewed on Nov 11, 2015. I still haven't heard if I am in officially or not. This waiting is nervewracking!

I also got an email for an interview. I haven't scheduled it yet. Hopefully I can go in the next few weeks. I also want to know what the questions are and how the interview went. If anyone has any info, please share!

Well ladies its been nice knowin ya....hahaha jk. Congrats to all who got in! I didn't get in BUT I got into Georgia State U Accelerated so that's where I'll be :) I dunno why I didn't get into KSU - 4.0 for sciences, 3.67 overall GPA and 91 TEAS - musta been my interview (but I didn't think I did bad on it). Whatever! I'm totally cool with GSU! Good luck everyone and congrats again!

I think its April 30th.

I am so confused. I didn't get an email and my mail hasn't come today. What does this whole email thing mean? Did they really send that email to the people who weren't accepted - telling them they were!? OMG how terrible. Not cool.

I might try to move closer to GSU for the summer while I take 2 or 3 classes there. Was wondering if anyone else was interested in doing the same? I currently live in East Cobb but am just thinking the daily commute would be much better if I lived downtown rather than driving 75 or 400 everyday or taking MARTA (esp late at night). Anyways let me know if you might be interested and we can talk further!

I got my letter a few hours ago...I'm in!!! Accelerated! Nursing school here we come! :)

I am the biggest nerd I know but just for those are curious out there. On USPS.com you can see how long it takes to get a letter. So from GSU -> Kennesaw it takes one day. From GSU -> Marietta (where I live, East Cobb to be exact) it takes 2 days. So us East Cobber's should be getting our letters tomorrow fingers crossed!!

Did everyone get a letter today? I didn't get one in the mail for some reason and its not updated online either! Booooo!

@Marasca I got that email too. Did you apply as Accelerated? I did, so I think maybe that's why we got it and others didn't? I dunno just thinking out loud. I think the patho class is online, at least that's what it said in the course catalogue, so if it is I will try to take it this summer. That is if KSU can change my undergrad admission to summer instead of fall. We'll see!
