Thanks Erin. I am new to the site. This was my question as well. I have a pt tomorrow that is on 40% coldpot, but no trach. I once had a pt with a trach and cold pot, so this make complete sense, but without a trach?! What is the purpose of a cold pot? Simply to ensure humidified air is given to the pt? My pt tomorrow is under 20 years of age with no prior problems (resp or anything), so is the humidified air with 40% cold pot to aid with his O2? That is my 2 cents.......thoughts?
