Thank you everyone for all the suggestions. I just want to clarify that we take an hr lunch. But before and after lunch we can't seat down. For some i might be making a big deal out of nothing but i think there are some ridiculous rules where i work.

Hello everyone. i am posting because i need your advice and suggestions about my current job situation. i just started a new job in a pediatric office. I noticed when i went in for the interview that there were not chairs at the nurse station. i found out on my first day that there are not chairs because if nurses are sitting down it is perceived as that we are not working. The shift is 8 hrs, but my feet are so swell and sore for being up all day. we have to chart, place labs orders, enter vitals in a stand up position. i am not allowed to sit down to rest my legs. The office is not very busy and i tried to do different things, organized items, cleaning but I wish i could have a least 1 min to rest my legs and back. what can i do? please help me.

Thanks Pixie.Rn i will began looking into that! I already waste 3 years after getting my Lpn not going back to school! I need to get my engine going! The only problem I see is that there are not in person information for NVCC! Do you know how to register for prerequisites work?

I went to LPN program that was offered in high School for Senior year and offered to adults as well! It was hard to get in, I was considered an adult I graduated in 2006. It was cheap and it was through the public school system! It consist of two years. First year was half day mon to friday. Second year full time, clinical hours from 7:00 am to 3:30pm three days a week and two days a week lecture. The director was very strict, it we failed two consecutive test we were out of the program, she made us think in cellular level, the care plans were so difficult to pass. It was worth the headache! The pass rate is high in that school!

Hello, everyone. I am LPN who is currently working on home care settings, to be honest I do not like my job, I like my profession but not the setting I am working. I am trying to go for my BSN but it seems impossible. I graduated from High School in 2006, I went for a LPN diploma at a Local high school and got my License. Now I am planning to go back to school but I do not know what to do. I am considering George Mason University, Chamberlain Collegue of Nursing, or NVCC which as far as I know it takes forever if you do not have all the prerequisites. I do not know what to do? I feel between the sword and the wall. I cant make my mind where to go, I am so scared of testing, I graduated so long ago that I do not feel confident anymore. All Universities or collegues ask for HESI, ACT, or TEAS test and to be honest I have not take any of that my entire life. I can"t afford to go to Chamberlain it is too expensive and George Mason is hard to get in as well due to being public. I went to their GM website and everything has to be done online, Any advice will be greatly appreciate it.

I am worried because i was assigned a pt who does not talk or interact and one particular day after i introduced myself, pt wrote a name that it was not his/her name so i did not know how to document it. I have been asking my supervisor for feedback or if we can go over my notes, or if she can give me any advice, but supervisor is very busy, never has time or she will not call back! So i feel fustrated because i want to do my job right and i do not want to put my license in danger!

Ok thanks, if my patient is nonberbal and py writes something i would document it using quotes ! Correct?

Hi, i am a new nurse with only 7 months in practice. I am so terrible when it comes to documentation. I think and think how to document. At school we did not enforce documentation as much, we talk about it but not to much in details. My question is how would u document something that a x patient writes because in nonberbal, how would u document that in a nurses notes? Would u document exactly as pt writes it? would u use " ", Etc. Every day, every night i think about it and i am worry i may get in trouble if i do not document correctly! Any suggestion, comment or input will be very appreciate it. Terrified i do not want to japorize my career.

No I have not communicated this to the agency. I know I have too, and they knew I did not have a lot experience in peds, I did not lie to them but they hired me knowing the true.

Before accepting this case i work with another kid, but did not require injections. And I believe the company I work for is very careless. I went just for an hr training, and next day I was supposed to start working. I only have two weeks working there. Secondly, they do not pay the training, after I spoke with the coordinator they gave me a w9 which means I work as a contractor. I know it was not smart on me taking this job, but I have been looking for a job and it was offered this to me. So I took it, but I do not really like this company I work for.

Thank you. Every time I ask the parents to hold the baby, they said, how you will do when I am no here? And to be honest I don't know what to answer. But I wonder yeah how I will do ? When i was at school I never inject a baby so I feel very nervous and I hate injecting Her. i do not want to hurt her. She is fragile and does not have so much fatty tissue.

Yeah you are right. Now everyday when I come home the first thing I do is check the answering machine. :) . I got a job in an agency, but I will remain hopeful because working in a office is what I really like.

Hello! I am a new nurse. I just got a job as home care nurse. I have a case and my patient is an 1 year old. I have to give subc injections, I know how to inject but I am having a hard time injecting her. Parents are present so far but I wonder how I will handle giving the injection when the parents are not around to help hold the baby still. Baby moves and cries when she feels I am cleaning with alcohol pad her tight. She starts moving and crying. Can someone please tell me how to place the baby and hold her when I am alone with not help and I have to give the injection. Thank you in advance for the comments or suggestions !
