  1. Hi Anne! Had a good visit with my daughter today. She is going to a halfway house for 3 months after her 45 days of inpatient as recommended by her counselors. She will find a sponsor there. I will miss her but will see her when I can. It if further away than her inpatient facility. Then she will come home and do her outpatient. I am so proud of her. She is doing so much better. She is so looking forward to connecting with you and other nurses here. As always, thank you for caring.
  2. Hi Anne! I know how important it is to have your family's support during recovery. My daughter kept her addiction a secret for many years. She probably would not have told anyone until she got arrested. I was shocked when she told me. It's scary to hear that your child is a drug addict. Mostly, I was sad that she could not reach out to anyone and had to keep her secret for so long. She knows she did wrong and want to be in recovery. When she asked for help, I got her into rehab and got her an attorney. I am going to support her yet I will not enable her. It is her addiction and her recovery. She knows she has to do the work and it is a forever journey in recovery. Alanon is helping me so much in my journey with my daughter's addiction. My daughter has shared with me how ashamed she is and how much she hates what she has done to herself and her family. I think the hardest part for an addict is to forgive themselves. You live with this everyday. God forgives. I forgive my daughter. I pray everyday that she can forgive herself and take her recovery one day at a time. Did you go to a halfway house? I don't know yet if she will go to one yet. They did mention it. Thank you, Anne, for helping us.
  3. Hi Anne! Saw my daughter today. She will be out of inpatient in two weeks. She is doing well. Yes, hopefully, her legal matters will work out with her being on probation. Truly appreciate your checking on her. She is going to connect on here as soon as she can. Thanks for helping us! God bless
  4. Hi Anne! I will give her this info and tell her you are sending positive thoughts. Thanks again for all your help.
  5. Hi Anne! I went to see my daughter today and she is doing good. She wanted me to ask you how she could get a recovery nurse as a sponsor? Thanks for checking on us!
  6. Thank you, dottimur. I am so grateful for Alanon .
  7. Thank you do much, Meriwhen. I appreciate your message. It really helped me.
  8. Hi Anne! Thanks so much for checking in on us. I am going to my alanon meetings and they are really helping me. My daughter is doing well in her inpatient treatment. We get to visit her on Saturdays. I am going to tell her about you and she will be excited to connect with you. Yes, it is a bonus meeting another from LA. My daughter tells me it really helps talking to others who are in recovery. It will be so good to connect with her peers on this site. I don't know who her sponsor is in rehab but she has an awesome counselor working with her. Again, thanks for sharing and supporting us. You are an angel!
  9. Thank you, Anne. I appreciate your support and help. KristieRae, thanks for your support, also. I am going to Alanon meetings and they are helping. And you are right about not being codependent. It's so hard when you see your child hurting but I know it is her addiction and her recovery. Thanks for sharing with me. I am grateful my daughter has this forum and all of you to share with when she gets out of her inpatient treatment.
  10. Thanks so much. This info helps. I also was able to read earlier threads when you helped another nurse. Your sharing the steps of your experience is so helpful and kind. It is scary time and your sharing makes a difference to those going through it now. God bless you!
  11. Thank you so much, Anne, for your reply. My daughter wants to join your forum and connect with others nurses like you as soon as she gets out of her inpatient treatment. Did you do 45 days inpatient? I have read the RNP handbook and have many questions like, how to find out where these meetings are, where do you have your drug tests and about outpatient treatments. Besides BON, my daughter has to deal with her criminal issues, which since this is her first time to ever be arrested, she is trying to get accepted into pre trial intervention program. We are trying to figure all this out. Can be a little overwhelming not knowing all the logistics of these agencies. The most important thing for my daughter is her recovery. She knows she has this journey for life. Any info or suggestions you have would be so appreciated. Thank you again for reaching out.
  12. Thank you do much for the info, wishmeluck. We are from Louisiana. My daughter has contacted BON of LA and is in one of the treatment centers they recommended and has been accepted into their RNP.
  13. I am so grateful to have found this website and forum. I have been reading the discussions and appreciate all the info given. My daughter who is an RN for 12 years is in an inpatient drug center now for 2 weeks. She turned herself into BON after she got into trouble for taking meds and went straight to rehab where she will be for 45 days. I want to help find resources that will help her on her journey of recovery. Places where she can talk to other nurses that have been or going through the same thing. I must say that in general people are so judgmental about my daughter being a drug addict and a nurse. It's hard for me to understand how they can't see where how this could happen to someone in the medical field. Someone told me she shouldn't have become a nurse if she was going to become a drug addict! Like my daughter or anyone else here wanted to be a drug addict! I would appreciate any help or advice you can share with me. You are all so brave and kind in reaching out and helping one another.
