  1. We have people of all different ages in our cohort with the average age being somewhere between 25 and 30. There are also people of all different majors so I don't think that really plays a role. It is more important how you do on your specific prereqs for the program and they want to know WHY you are choosing to go into nursing and know that you are truly committed to it. Previous healthcare experience is probably preferred, but definitely not mandatory, as many people had none. Hope this helps!
  2. Thank you for getting back to me! I ended up choosing Georgetown because it was a more established program and I got offered a scholarship, but I did hear that Penn State's program is starting to look a lot better since they changed some staff. I hope your experience was good, and congrats on graduation!
  3. What type of stats and background info were you looking for?
  4. Hi! I am in Georgetown's accelerated program right now, and I started this fall. I had a pretty competitive GPA from my original degree, but I know that there are other people in my program who did not. Personally, I think they are looking more at the grades that you got for the required prereqs (micro, A&P, etc). They want to know that you will be able to handle the nursing courses and the fast pace of the program. Do well in the prereqs and focus on the application itself. Your previous GPA shouldn't matter all that much.
  5. Thank you so much for your response Tag2007! I have been swooning over them but now I will probably hold off and see what I'll need once I start. Your update was very helpful!
  6. Can you please post an update and/or pictures?! I am going though the same dilemma right now trying to choose and rolling bag and would love more info on the Zuca!
  7. I am trying to decide if I want to take a scholarship from WHC to attend Georgetown's accelerated nursing program this fall. I would commit to working at WHC for three years after the program. I would love to hear about your overall opinion and experience working there!
  8. MoonK!! I'm so sorry, I haven't been checking the forum lately so I only saw this post today! I definitely would have given you some tips..I know I posted some previously in another thread. I hope your interview and visit went well!
  9. Thank you so much for your response! I appreciate it :) I am definitely leaning more and more towards Georgetown every day!! However, they just told me I need 1 more credit for Chemistry..what chemistry classes are still open for the and only one credit?? NONE! Of couuurrrsseee.. So until I figure that out, things are on hold for me. One option I've considered is trying to start in the spring instead. Does anyone know if we can defer our start date AND the scholarship for a semester?
  10. I'm having a really hard time choosing between Georgetown with the scholarship, and Penn State Harrisburg's accelerated program. I live close to PSU Harrisburg that I got my first degree from Penn State, so it would be a much easier transition. However, I know that Georgetown's program is really good and I liked WHC, but I am scared about some negative personal experiences I've heard about Gtown and I'm nervous about the long commitment to DC. PLEAAAASSSEEE does anyone want to weigh in, or better yet, make my decision for me? Does anyone know anything about the Penn State program or anyone who has done it there? ANY honest information for opinions would be MUCH appreciated!! I am desperate!
  11. FINALLY!! Don't know whether I should laugh, cry, or vomit.
  12. I feel ya!! Honestly, I think this is a little ridiculous at this point.. Maybe they're monitoring this forum and giving us a final test of patience to see how we do Haha..I FAIL
  13. If we don't hear about the scholarships some time today I might actually lose my mind...
  14. Professor T, thanks for your response! I also wish that the decisions were released at the same time!! What I meant is that I wasn't sure if they were going to notify us either way.. Will they e-mail the people who aren't offered the scholarship as well, to tell them they weren't chosen?
  15. Does anyone know if we'll hear about the scholarship whether we got it or not? I forget if they mentioned that..
  16. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO In the words of Stephanie Tanner, "HOW RUDE!"
  17. Coooooooooooooommmmeeeeee onnnnnnnnnnnnn
  18. Thank you, Professor T! It was so nice to meet you along with everyone else who was at the information session and hospital. I completely agree with everything that you and Ersoch have said. To be completely honest, before attending this weekend I thought I had my mind made up about where I was going, and I was kind of hoping to hate the program and the hospital so that it would make my decision easier if I was accepted. Of course it was the complete opposite. I absolutely LOVED the program, the hospital, and like you both said, I fell in love with the program directors as well. I am so nervous now about the decisions and wishing I had interviewed with a later group so that I wouldn't have to wait as long! Haha! Again, it was nice (and a little intimidating) to meet you all and hear your impressive stories! Good luck to you all!!
  19. For anyone who is interested, I am thinking about heading to Epicurean around 1 pm. I'm not sure how it's set up so I don't know how we'll identify each other. If anyone has any ideas about that, please post them!
  20. There's a place called Epicurean on the Georgetown Campus right by St Mary's Hall. I was thinking about going there to maybe grab food and/or coffee before the information session on Friday if anyone wants to join and try to calm our nerves together!
  21. Thank you so much eliz! I appreciate your help!
  22. Hi! I applied for the program to start this fall. Just got the news that my application is through to the final review and I am scheduled to visit Georgetown and WHC on April 5-6. I know that when this thread was new, you were all competing and therefore didn't want to share too much information. I am hoping that now that you are all attending (or not attending) the program, you will be willing to share a little bit more information about your interview and the program :) I was hoping to find out more about what people wore for each visit, what questions were asked during interviews and group discussions, and what your overall impression was about the interview process. Also, I was wondering what those of you who are attending the program now think about it, as well as the WHC scholarship. Are you glad you chose the program and why or why not? Any other general pointers you have would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance for your response!!
  23. YAYYYYY Just RSVPed for the 5th and 6th! I will probably dress up both days, but definitely more for Saturday. People have said to wear comfortable shoes for the WHC visit though, because you walk a lot!
  24. Professor T, I have about three different essays written and no idea which one to go with haha! I'll probably wait till the last minute to decide!
  25. Has any one heard about from Georgetown yet about the school visit?
