When I was taking all my prerequisites Nova didn't accept bio 150 as microbiology but I've heard that they do now. As far as I know Mason still accepts 150 for microbiology (so other universities might also). So it'll be simple to just do bio 141/142 then bio 150. I can't remember for sure but I think you need bio 101 (or maybe not?)

Soooooo I know this post just kind of died and all lol but I was hoping someone has an update on anything :'( My excitement is starting to die down But yeaaaa anyone else feel the same way?

My cousin is a nurse and I'm always bugging her with questions. She said things will begin to make more sense once you finish the Nursing 101 class (I guess that's NURS 330 for us). I don't work so all my time and energy will be spent on the program. Are you going to be working while in nursing school? I've been applying around hoping to start a part time job so I can pay for that expensive to-do list! Good luck to us indeed!! :)

Hiiii!! Yay! Congrats to you as well!!! The feeling is totally mutual! I'm waiting for more people to come on out and introduce themselves I went in to turn my contract today and they said our mandatory orientation will be the week of the 19th in August. Ahhh! August can't come fast enough

Hi Leny! I (and I'm pretty sure everyone else as well) haven't received anything yet I'm getting very annoyed, too I don't why it's taking forever I want to know now :'( but hey, if you don't mind me asking, are you a transfer student (from a community college) or have been at GMU since freshmen year?

I know I got the email...I was hoping maybe someone heard something. If they're gunna reject me I need to know now so I can begin my healing process This is taking too longgg I even went on a 7 week vacation and the letter isn't here yet -.- SIGH. Soon

Anyone hear from GMU yett?? & anyone have an idea about when NOVA will send the decision letter? Like when will they really send it lol. Sighh this is taking tooooo long

Mlimrost: I'm finally coming back home this week. Have you gotten it yet??? Ahhhh I'm so nervous I don't think I'll be able to open it :'( I'm being such a pessimist. I have no hope for myself. I did 99% of my prerequisites at NOVA. They probably didn't want me :'( and my essay probably sucked compared to everyone else's :'(

Alright Trisha I have an update for you :) I retook the English section today (FINALLY!) didn't get the 100% like I wanted :'( but I got 86.7% and I'm pretty happy with that. I think I'm more happy that it's finally over! :) leaving for my vacation on Thursday now I can go peacefully *thumbs up* Now all I can do is pray and hope that we both get in :') Good luck with the rest of the semester and the teas! :)

Hey Tricia! Yea I'm still here :) Actually l kept checking back too but I figured you were busy and since there wasn't much activity I stopped checking. I'm so glad your 8 week classes are ending soon! :) that must be such a relief! Don't stress about the teas at all. As long as you're keeping up with the study guide you will do great :) I still haven't heard from Mason yet, probably won't until late April or early May I go in to retake the English section of my teas next Wednesday. I better get 100% >. Sometimes I even forget I have applied since its such a looooong wait. Then I feel guilty for forgetting :'( lol It was soooooo nice to see another post from you! Hope all is well and keep it touch good luck with finals and all! You're gunna pull through this!!!!

Summer: I think that's for the NVCC in CT, but I saw some for MEC. That's a brilliant idea! thanks so much :) Selisa: I know your question was directed towards Summer but from what I've seen/heard there are loads of people who have a BS/BA (or even Mater's) degree and apply for the NVCC RN program. Of course I don't know how many I don't think it's unusual at all, though. I applied to GMU as well! The traditional program. I am feeling rather hopeless about getting into their program though Good luck to you! If you wish you apply to NVCC and have the prereqs done it's still not to late to apply

Soo I had totally typed up like 5 paragraphs, but it only posted the first two sentences But once again thanks guys :) Summer: Hearing that I'm in great shape from someone who has been through the program and found a great job gives me so much confidence! :) I have heard about how crazy strict the program is, but I think I need that. If I'm not put under uber pressure I'm afraid I won't get the most out of the program and won't make a good nurse. I was actually thinking about how there will (hopefully) be more job opportunities by 2015, but I'm definitely willing to move if need be. I've lived in the Alexandria, VA area for so long. I need to get out of here. & nursing is totally worth it all (retaking all my classes and moving if I have to) Tricia: I have my fingers seriously crossed tight for the two of us! It'll be so great to get into (& finish) the program with someone who I met wayyyy before starting the program :) You can do this! You're taking all your prereqs in one semester, so you can handle anything! :) As for the teas I'm pretty sure I can't take the math again I called the testing center twice, and I rechecked the teas pdf file on NOVA's site, they don't want you retaking passing scores & I don't want to upset the program by being a rebel lol. Well I'm hoping the 86 will cut it :) I am pretty sure if I just breathe and focus I can get 100 or a very high 90-score on the English next time. Once again, fingers crossed! :)

Hey summer! Thanks sooo much for replying :) The passing score is 78% I wanted 90's in all sections to make myself more competitive I'm scared an 86.7% in math is no where near competitive. I think you're right about not being able to take retake passing scores :'( I called MEC, though the lady seemed a bit confused, she said you can't retake passing scores (sigh) This makes me so nervous I took the online summer course for NAS 162 & got a B, so my prereq gpa is 3.67...AH! I hate myself so much right now But yea I'm going to try and stay positive. I will retake my English section. Do whatever I can to get 100%! It can't be impossible. I don't have a bachelors but I do have my associates from NOVA. When I read the pdf it said they will be looking at GPA from last 12 credits of prereqs and then TEAS scores. It said nothing about a degree i've been a resident for many many years now though. I will retake my English section in March and then send in my application right after. Thank you so much Summer I hope I can get in this year. If I don't I will retake NAS 162 (or maybe I'll try to take micro 205 because I got A's in both bio 141 and 142...I've heard of people getting permission for 205 because they had HS Chem). Come what may I won't give up and I'll just keep trying until I get in I'm wondering where all the 2013 applicants are We all need to stick together through this process :)

Heyyy so I FINALLY took the teas :| I feel both happy and disappointed about my scores. Before I say what they are let me tell you I thought I did worst in reading and best in English but it ended up being the opposite haha. So here we go: Reading: 90.5% Math: 86.7% English: 76.7% So I guess an overall score of 84.63% So yea I will definitely be retaking English in March. I will retake math as well because I KNOW I can do better. What I like about the report is that its detailed enough for you to figure out what needs improvement. Omg I can't believe I failed English :'0 I really really thought I did so well I even semi rechecked all my answers. I think I let the rush take over I was shaking after I finished math because I almost ran out of time on the math section :0 I probably should be depressed about this but I'm not lol. I'm glad that at least now I know what to expect on a teas :) I will study harder for math and English I'm not sure where I went wrong. I will review but for the most part I think I need to slow down. I finished in like half the time :/ Anyone reading this thread mind sharing scores even if you applied the year before and got in for traditional Fall 2012. Pleeeease? :)

Summer03, First of all, congrats on completing the programs and landing with a rewarding position :) A 3.8 cum? Do you happen to remember your GPA for the four prereqs? & if this isn't asking for too much (and I would completely understand if it's impossible) is there a way you could get your teas scores? I just really want more recent results to compare mine with (when I take my teas that is). I've heard hospitals around this area love hiring NVCC grad nurses since the school has a pretty good rep. So I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope that I'll be able to get a hospital position after graduation. I'm not going to be picky about hours whatsoever :| Thank you so much for sharing :))

Haha yayy. I KNOW it really does help so so SOOO much! I honestly haven't felt this relaxed since the whole process began Where'd you go to school before this? NOVA and GMU is all I've done. Online summer session wasn't the smartest idea So prereqs = 3.7. I willlll get high 90s on this teas >. You're right, Mason has a looooong list of prereqs. I have em all done except ENGH 302 (which you can complete after being accepted). AHHHH the wait is going to kill me sigh if I'm going to get rejected I still wanna know now I have thought about it and since I really have no backup to nursing (but nursing of course!) IF I don't get into any programs this year I will do retakes (unfortunately at a higher price since I can't take anymore classes at NOVA as a GMU student) and raise my GPA and try again next year Do you know any new grads? I've been reading about a lot of unsuccessful job hunts I see another guest on the thread and there are so many views. Come out come out where ever you are!
