  1. I need some help. I worked 8 months on a trauma burn unit then 4 months on a mother baby unit. Both were night shifts which made for a difficult, exhausting life. I just quit my mother baby job so that I could go back to get my bsn without the difficultly of night shift. I've had a couple of interviews but I'm afraid no one will hire me. What should I do? I desperately need ICU experience
  2. Someone please help. I graduated a year ago. I started my first job on a trauma unit in July and worked there until February. The patients were miserable, the workload was insanely stressful, and my coworkers were malicious. The manager was fairly decent however. I started working on a mother baby unit in February and while the patients are better in general, my managers hate me and they are trying to push me out. Nothing I do is appreciated and I am scolded for any tiny mistake. I am miserable and it's safe to say I hate being a nurse. I went into this for the love of other people and caring for people and it's nothing like that. Night shift is also not for me but it seems that's all I can ever get. I want to apply for a school nursing job because it's totally different, the hours are better, no holidays and weekends, and most of all no malicious coworkers and patients. I don't want to look like a job hopper. Should I do it? Or start a new career doing something else?
  3. That's awesome! What would I need to do to get it changed?
  4. Do y'all think that if I don't accept my spot for summer, that it will damage my chances of being accepted for fall even though my points will be good enough?
  5. That's good to know! Who is best to take for micro?
  6. Congratulations to everyone who got in! I need some advice. I still have to take micro and psychology and I'm worried about taking them with nursing classes. With that said, I'm considering not accepting my spot this summer so I can take those prerequisites and reapplying in the fall to the Shelby campus with 197 points. The only thing I'm worried about is not getting in for fall, and then what would I do? Any advice?
  7. Yeah you should, that wouldn't be fair at all!
  8. That's weird! Sometimes I honestly think the advisors have no idea what they're talking about
  9. @Kayla, did you find out if you got in? If I can go tomorrow and they'll tell me, I definitely will.
  10. Me too! I didn't realize there were that many applicants. But the advisor said that many of them are dropped because they weren't eligible for reasons such as holds on record or transcripts and/or teas not being on file. I felt like 400 people was a lot too but she didn't know whether that was more or less than last summer because she didn't have those statistics. So I don't know, I'm just bummed we have to keep waiting because I was set on knowing by now!
  11. One more thing! I asked about the pipeline change and she said that doesn't have anything to do with whether or not we were accepted.
  12. Hey everyone! I have an update. The advisor told me that for the summer term 400 people applied (that is Jefferson and Shelby combined) but that we would find out later than usual. She told me they normally have the results and call people by now but that they lost an employee that processed applications and that has slowed down the process. Also, she said they normally accept around 70 people per campus but that is subject to change.
  13. I haven't talked to an advisor since before I applied but I'm thinking I might go tomorrow to see what's up with the application process. And I'm getting even more nervous because to be exact I had 187 points but no change in the pipeline!
  14. has it changed from pre-rn to rn on anyone's pipeline? Mine is still pre-rn, but some applicants have already changed and they have less points than us...
