To answer your comment about people saying there arent any jobs.... These days there are no jobs for RNs just as much as there are no jobs for LPNs so the RN students shouldn't think they are better off. I am talking only about the new grads of course(for both LPN and RNs). There are dozens of positions for nurses in my hospital, but not one of them is for a new graduate. They all want experience. My friend the newly grad RN had to look for a job for 3 months before she got a part time gig at a dialysis center (not her first choice by far). My friend's newly licensed mom LPN looked for a year before she found a position also at a dialysis center. I put in an awesome word in for them to my manager and they couldn't even get an interview. This is how it is in all of Florida right now. Both of them ended up with a position and are happy now, but it might take a little bit of time. I was talking to the placement manager at a nursing school where I work today and she said that about 82% of the students that graduated from us got a position "in the field" meaning in the healthcare field not necessarily as an LPN. Some of them are working as CNAs. Some of them got jobs right after graduation, but most had to wait a few months. ADVICE TO ALL STUDENT NURSES: Volunteer in a hospital, get a CNA job somewhere if you can, in your clinicals be super nurse and shine... this way you can get noticed by the management and when it comes time to graduate they will give you a position because they know you.

I thought I wanted to be an ICU nurse. I started off in surgical ICU, didn't like it at all. Moved to an observation floor and loved it. Then a few people got hired onto the floor that are just hard to work with. Now I try to ignore them or work the opposite schedule from them. I think you just need a floor or facility change. The people you work with make a big difference on how your work day or night will go. If you're not working with a supportive bunch it's time for a change. Tough it out however long you need to stay there before you can transfer, or start applying to other jobs right away.

I'm just a student now, but I want to work in ICU. I was wondering what to excpect for pay. I have to have a full time job to pay for school. THis takes a toll on my study time (big time) so I was considering taking on a loan. I want to be an ICU nurse and I know I won't get to be one right out of school, but I want to get there as soon as possible. So I was thinking whether I should take a full time loan or just a little one and work part time. I'm concerned about paying back my loan so I wondered what to expect for pay (so I know whether to keep my job as part time to minimize the loan). So... what is some of your experiences working in ICU for a hospital and an agency... THANKS IN ADVANCE... :)

Yeah, I have that too. Or I guess I do... not really sure. Well my testasterone is elevated and some doctor said it was PCOS. Not fun. Try to lose weight that usually helps if not then there is some medicine for it. Try to act soon becuase if you don't you are going to get hairy... oh yeah and emotionally ify. It's really not fun. I suggest you check it out with a doc to make sure its PCOS and not some other hormonal imbalance. Good luck.
