  1. [h=1]Tattooed_LPN, LPN That is great news!! I am sorry you had to go through this crap. It is very stressful, but you finally got your license! It must be the greatest feeling in the world![/h]
  2. So here is the UPDATE: The enforcement officer that I have been communicating with stated that she has submitted my file to my supervisor, recommending approval. Her supervisor signed off on it on 2/3, then my file was returned to licensing that same day. So I should receive my letter in the mail any day now!! Woohoo! So this issue will no longer be an issue in regards to my California licensure, thankfully! As far as the incorrect information being reported, she stated that is something that I will have to try to resolve on my own. Again, this might take update to six months or more, but I am going to do it!
  3. So I received another email today from the enforcement officer stating "The arrest date was 08/26/04. It appears that the arresting agency was San Diego Central Sherriff's Office. You might want to contact them to obtain report, and go from there. I spoke with my supervisor, and she authorized me to finish processing your file. Thanks." Again, I was living in New York at that time! I went to the SD Sherriff's office and they stated that they can only pull up records as far as 10 years. If it is longer than 10 years (which it is) then they can't pull the records. I asked if there is anything I can do to get records that are dated past ten years and they stated that I would need to request my RAP sheet through the DOJ. The processing time for this will be 13-15 weeks! So for now, I am going to send them my DMV records from CA, my drivers license, social security card, H.S transcripts stating I was attending school full-time in NY and my marriage certificate (in case this is under my married name). They will not be able to send any documents to me (BRN representative stated to me today) How do I certify the letter explaining everything?? Is there anything else I should do? Thank you guys so much for helping me! I just feel so defeated right now.
  4. So I have a bit of a dilemma right now and I am looking for anybody who can give me some advice! So I received a letter stating that due to disclosure of previous discipline/conviction my application will need additional processing time. A couple of days later I received another letter requesting arrest records, court docs, a letter of explanation, etc. As we all know, it is impossible to talk to anyone from the BRN. I finally was able to talk to somebody from the BRN who then quickly transferred me to the enforcement dept to leave a message. A couple of days later I received an email stating that they saw I was arrested and convicted of Disorderly conduct and a DUI in 2004 (mind you I was 15 years old at that time). This is the first time I have ever heard of this! I joined the military in 4/2007 and had an extensive background check to obtain top secret clearance, tons of background checks for government service positions, and background check for nursing school and this is the first time I am hearing about this! So I believe it may be a human error on their part? Not sure. Anyways, I tried calling them back several times throughout the week-no response. Sent a couple emails-nothing. I just want to get more information on what they have so I can prove that it is not me. So far, I have gone to the DMV to obtain my lifetime driving records (one from CA and one for NY). Since I live in CA, it was easy to obtain the CA one, but the most important is the NY records because I was living there when this supposed DUI occurred. The thing is I had to request the NY records by mail and it can take up to 15 business days to receive it :-/ Has anyone been in a similar situation? Also, any advice would be greatly appreciated. It has been rough the past couple of weeks and I feel helpless....Thank you in advance!
  5. Hey Beth! Congrats on getting into the program! I actually already started :-) and I am almost done with this first semester! MiraCosta is a wonderful program and you are going o love it! Miracosta campus is pretty small compared to Grossmont, so you won't have an issue finding where you need to go. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask :-)
  6. I got into the Mira Costa nursing program! Woooohoooo! My calculations showed that I had 73pts :-)
  7. Hello everyone, I am sending out this post to see if anyone out there has been accepted in the MCC spring 2014 nursing program. I thought this would be a great place to get started and build a little network. I hope to here from you some of you soon! Dina :-)
  8. Worst case scenario; Grossmont does not work out, then apply for San diego city college. Or even Palomar (they are not waitlisted anymore).
  9. Oh no! That's horrible! Well if it makes you feel any better...there WILL be people that will not accept an invitation. That is usually due to the fact that they applied to other programs (i.e N.U, SDSU, San Marcos..) and were accepted to those, which then will lead them to pick that program over Grossmont. That is just one common scenario. I am sure you will get in. Just make sure you get that immz paperwork straightened out ASAP! Keep us posted!
  10. Long2beanurse, did you apply as well? How many points do you have?
  11. That is fantastic news, Moiredgirl! I hope to one day experience that excitement... What was your total points if you don't mind me asking?
  12. Hey! Sorry that it took me forever to reply! So this weekend I finally took the TEAS exam and I definitely messed up on it. My overall score is 73%. I am so embarrassed and devastated. I thought I was going to get a score of at least 80%. If you have not taken the TEAS exam, then my best advice is to watch your time! I did really well on the math, science and grammar sections, but the reading was were it bit me real hard. I didn't finish that section and guessed on maybe 15 questions. It was horrible. Anyways, now I am screwed to say the least. I did not apply for Grossmont because one of my science pre reqs was taken online (micro). So now I am applying for Mira Costa, San Diego City, Santa Ana, and San Bernardino. I just want to get into a nursing program, but it seems impossible. If I don't get into a Nursing Program then I am doing the same thing as you; I am going to take O Chem and apply for a BSN. Why does this have to be sooooo freaking tough! Please keep me updated with your progress. I really hope you are having better luck :-)
  13. Hello everyone! I have been overly obessed on the thought of getting accepted into a nursing program. I need to figure out what everyone received in points- based on the point system grid, so I can judge where I stand at currently. How many points did you receive to get accepted into these nursing programs? I am looking to apply this July for spring 2014 program. I only have one class left (microbio) and I need to take the TEAS exam(which I have been studying for a couple of months now), which I plan on taking in June. I am estimating, if i get an A in microbiology--I will have a score of 3.77 on the prereq (B+ in anatomy,A in physiology and A in microbiology) -3.86 in the "fixed set" (A in everything but sociology=B+) -10 points forallied health certificatiion & work experience -4 points for hardship point (i.e military,1st gen, need to work etc.) -TEAS V-- guestimating 35-40 points----knock on wood! Overall, my total points that I am looking at is between 77-82pts. Please help me and let me know if I have any hope in getting in with this or things I should do? Thank you so much for your time with this! As most of you know, this stuff is stressful--it is to the point that I am getting gray hairs and I am only 25! Thanks again :-)
