  1. What kind of storage did you get? I'm hoping to get most of my books on an ipad, is that what you've done? Thanks in advance!!
  2. knspivey--there's not much information out there for UNCG on all nurses and I remember how nervous I was having so little info so I'll share with you what I know. If you're a first degree student and UNCG is the only school you've attended (and you're a sophomore when you apply) then you are a "priority student." My advisor told me that the priority students must maintain a 3.5 undergrad GPA, and then you also must make a B- or above in NUR 210 and NUR 220 (all of this info can be found online). My advisor also told me that this cohort, 60 priority students were accepted, which left about 30 spots for the second-degree/transfer/non-priority students. It's very easy to not do well in NUR 210, even though the information is not terribly difficult, you have to understand the question format (they start prepping you to take the NCLEX in this class!) I would definitely get a tutor for NUR 210. I'm a very good student and got a B- on my first exam (after not being tutored) and on my second (after tutoring), my score went up 10 points. YES!! you CAN apply to other schools! I'm not sure why people think they can't, but yes, you can. Some other schools are UNC-Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Appalachian, Wilmington, ECU, A&T, WSSU, other state universities I'm forgetting, and then community colleges of course. Do your credits transfer? You'll have to research that yourself, but it is not difficult information to find. I applied to 3 different schools, all where I was eligible...the searching took awhile, but if this is what you're passionate about, it should not be an agonizing thing to do. Wow this was a lot of information. Hope it helps. Let me know if you want any more questions answered!
  3. I checked online...not even wait listed, just rejected. To the ones who got in or were wait listed...is anyone still working on pre-reqs?
  4. Kelsey, how far from Chapel Hill do you live?! I'm trying not to watch my mailbox...this is driving me crazy!! Good luck everyone!
  5. No decision for me either:/ agggghhh good luck everyone!!
  6. I love your enthusiasm! Thanks for sharing your stats, you've got awesome experience (and in the field I want to go into!). Are you an NC resident?
  7. Yes, I noticed that as well. Not a nice feeling. We've got to stay positive though!
  8. I just did a little stalking and found that their deadline was december 22 too!
  9. That would be so great! Did the thread mention when their applications were due? I think I remember reading that decisions would take 12 weeks...which would be march 22 I guess. But let's go for march 1st! :)
  10. My first degree was psychology (like more than half the second degree nursing students I've met!) and I'm working on microbiology still. I'm also a student at UNCG since you have to take NUR 210 and 220 at UNCG to be eligible to apply to their program...I'm hoping that might give me an edge :) but not counting on it! I'm not sure if you've already said, but what was your first degree in?
  11. Gosh! What are you planning on doing with those dates so close? I imagine that's pretty nerve wracking. I also applied to UNCG and Duke, but Carolina is my top choice...just wish it wasn't so competitive! Haha and I'm worried about my pre-reqs not being complete yet.
  12. UncHopeful--thanks for the information! Hopefully having two committees is a good thing..? Haha I just wish they'd let us know already. It sounds like everyone is coming in strong. Yikes! I've been volunteering since August in peds in the hospital nearby and I've got a 3.6 cumulative GPA from my first degree. I'm still working on one pre-req but I'm hoping to come out with a 4.0. I just don't have an extensive medical background or tons of volunteer hours (and I hear that's what Carolina looks for). I hope more apply to ABSN! Did you?
  13. I hope decisions go out that early, that would be great! If you dont mind me asking, how come the admissions officers at Carolina told you not to graduate?
  14. Good luck to everyone tomorrow! You're gonna do great!
  15. I just looked online and it says we should get our decision online no later than April 1st....that is soooo long from now! I was thinking it would be mid-march. I too am second degree, and it makes sense that they would favor first degree students...just hope it's not true:/ is anyone going to call?
