  1. The main trend I see and from what I've heard from friends who didn't get in, is get a CNA license at least, and work if you can. Having that experience to pull from for the essay seems help.
  2. Two is such an adorable and hard age. I'm really glad there are so many of us with families, it's nice to know I'm not alone!
  3. I've been planning on reviewing anatomy too, but probably won't . Does anyone know if PCC confirms they got your acceptance letter?
  4. I remember studying in the commons and a teacher burst out of a nursing lecture, and yelled "If your just going to talk to each other and not listen you can teach yourselves!". There is also a good thread by someone who was in it last year, I can't remember what it's called, but they said its basically m-f, 8-5, and she did 20 hours of studying on the weekends. They lost 15 people who just left, and like another 20 who didn't get C or better on their first major test. It's just way harder than people think it's going to be, and PCC has a very high standard. I think that's why PCC has been tweaking their admission standards lately.
  5. I think it's really smart we are weighing our school options carefully! They all have strengths and weaknesses, and each of us will have our own "right" school. I chose PCC and never even considered other schools based on the quality of the instructors I've had there so far. Amazing faculty! But I'm sure the other schools do too Don't forget there are other RN to BSN options out there. Western Govenors has a great one, linfield, university of Phoenix, etc.
  6. I can't believe we made it! I'm really excited to be working with all of you over the next couple of years. I'm a father of 4 and an alumni of George Fox University. I'm trying to figure out if I'll be able to continue working while I'm in school. Are any of you taking BI234 this summer or in the fall?
  7. Just found out I got accepted at Pcc, both times! What a crazy roller coaster. I hope they go though the wait list again this year. Good luck everyone!
  8. Just got my PCC email essay invite! I'm so excited. From what I've seen here, it looks like the competition is really good this year. Good luck everyone! P.S. I'm not sure where I got this, but it might help. 9. Hello everyone! I was an avid reader of last years articles on applying to schools here, and it really helped me get an idea of how many points I would need. I thought I'd return the favor. So far I've only applied at PCC with 54.5 points (I think). For some reason, I'm not getting any discretionary points at Chemeketa and very few at Mt. Hood, so I might just forgo them this year. Is it just me or are schools going to a model where you can only really have a chance if you take the prereqs there? Anyways, good luck everyone!!!!
