  1. I have been a PICC RN for the last 10 years of my 21 years in nursing. I have total respect for LPNs and enjoy their company in the hospital setting. Why? Their attitudes based off my experience are excellent and they always wanting to learn something new at any chance they get. You may have a different experience but I hope LPNs are here to stay in the medical field. Every title in the medical field has its needs, but LPNs like RNs are needed in special areas across all facets in the medical field.
  2. Keep in mind that many offenses like domestic violence and even disturbing the peace are more "bigger" flags than a DUI. DUI is a small flag but I feel based off my experience in being a nurse for 20 years, DUI tends be shrugged off as a mistake rather than a potential for violence like the offenses I mentioned earlier. I have trained boxers for over 30 years from all facets of life from doctors, UPS workers, ex-convicts, construction workers, and the simple full-time potential atheletes and many of these athletes have a small dent on the their records and they work decent jobs requiring licenses and degrees. Based off my experience, the only enemy you may have is your auto insurance rates and driving record. I feel the BON will throw this issue aside as being a first time offender and considering your young age with poor judgement. Crimes involving violence are the crimes that many people look at firsthand due to the potential harm to others.
  3. I have worked ICU for 7 years and a float pool for 3 years. The last 10 years I have been a dedicated PICC line nurse and I can say this is my favorite part of my nursing adventure. Why? It's a mini-challenge everytime you insert a line and when a patient tells you that your technique was very minimal in pain, it makes me feel good that experience was a good one for the patient.
  4. Thanks for the insight. I look things up as well, but I get confused once in a while. Thanks!
  5. I am curious as I just stumbled onto this thread, but would a person always cite their references in the body of the letter or just list the references at the end...? I am not in any on-line class but learning some APA guidelines....
  6. I am a 20 year ADN and currently have been inserting PICC lines the last 10 years. I am going to go back to get my BSN at OU is what I like. I have not been in a classroom for 20 years so this on-line stuff is all new to me for college. I have been skimming the internet like OWL Perdue and other websites over the content of the APA format. Is it to my understanding that there are two different types of APA style papers? For example, one with a literature review ( no Method) and the other with experiment review which requires a Method? Does this make sense? Do you write both in the classes or focus on the experiment review with Method? Sorry to sound so goofy but I am trying to get a feel of all this before diving into anything. Is the software in BSN program easy to navigate or should I purchase Microsoft Office to get familiar with it? Thanks!
