Workload @ your facility
Wow, I feel fortunate. I just started as a CNA in an LTC home, on the day shift. Our ratio is 1 CNA to 5-6 residents. Its the same in the evening but overnight is 1:12. When I did clinicals in school, we were trained at a place that had a 1:8-10 ratio. I don't know what I would do with 12 patients on a daily basis!

Getting ready to apply: CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2013
Many hospitals have BLS for Healthcare Providers- I took my class two years ago at Hartford Hospital. They have the one day class on Saturday and a few nights during the month. It's like $80 I think...I know CCC Continuing Ed has the classes too, so I am sure the other Community colleges would have them as well.

So i just dropped off my signed forms; and like expected, my crazy self was first. They had not even started a folder yet in Admissions or in the Nursing office... lol. Hope they get used to it now because it's how I am!

I'm glad I'm not the only ambitious one out there! I am planning to drop off my papers tomorrow afternoon... physical is scheduled for Apr. 26 and I am actually due up for renewal of my CPR cert in late May so I am scheduling that for early May! I act all stressed about the short timeframe but who am I kidding; I'll have it all done way before I need to!

I am sure if you show proof that you are starting it, they will accept that. I think I got that one back in HS... I cant remember. I hope so!

Link disappeared for me too... at 4 30, it said I was accepted to CCC. Now I'm paranoid.... that'll be embarrassing if it was wrong, I told everyone.

oh yay, the computer exemption test doesnt count towards the GPA calculation! I took the test to wipe out a C- in Intro to Programming that I took over 12 years ago... but then I was afraid that they would take the test score (87) and count that as my "grade" which would bring my GPA down. But this is good! I'm glad it doesnt count! Now to just see something on commnet and I will be reliefed... I heard for CCC that they are sending wait list letters this week... and uploading the acceptances as well. This was through a friend who has a teacher that works in admissions, so I don't rely on it 100%. You never know anymore what is really going on!

I think I need to step away from mycommnet... it's just making me go more crazy. It will happen when it happens... there I sound at least a little more sane. Although I think the fact that I just googled "what is technically considered mid-month" makes me pretty darn crazy (and mid month means April 11-20, haha).

I'm glad I read this- I didn't realize about the acceptance "letters" this year... I would have been going crazy in April!! I am just as crazy as you are- I check all day long to see if my GPA has been calculated. All of my reqs are showing as met, which is a relief. But I'm still worrying all day and every day. My hubby was like, I thought you would be calm by this point since it's mid-March but I think I am going to be on edge until mid-April!!

Well I feel better. I spoke with Admissions and my fears are eased! I also heard back from **********, and was told the same thing. Right now, they are reviewing the applications, inputting all the transfer classes and calculating the nursing GPA. No one is being tossed out yet. We will all receive a letter whether we have missing items or not shortly. We can still contest any problems so long as we did everything correctly on our end- meaning we submitted the documentation correctly and timely. As my transcripts are officially entered, I have nothing to worry about. Additionally, I was told that they should be finishing the review at the end of next week. Bottom line, if you submitted everything correctly, and the records are showing up on the checklist, then they have your stuff. As for the computer test, they have a list in the admissions office from the advisors, and since I have proof that it was sent in by my advisor, then I can be assured I am on the list. So, for now, I am going to stop worrying and just be patient!! Thanks everyone for your feedback. We have made it this far, we can make it another 6 weeks!!

Well if my transcripts are showing up as received on May 8, 2011 and February 23, 2011, and the composition and computer classes are on those transcripts, I think its safe to say I made it in time for the Feb. 1, 2013 cutoff. But still I am going over there in a few because I'd rather be safe then sorry.
