  1. I have a BS in biology and went back to get my ADN..now most hospitals are only hiring BSN nurses..or you have to have within 3 yrs of hire..so if floor nursing is all you want..then I would go for your BSN..but for one more yr..you could apply for the BS to NP programs ( usually 3 yrs) and prescribe meds..but you better hurry on that too..most NP programs are going to Doctorate..hope this helps..
  2. Most ADN programs are not online...plus in my area..the hospitals are only hiring BSN nurses..so I would take most of your pre-req online..except for A&P of course and apply to a BSN program..if you already have a BS then are more options..university of Wisconsin has an accelerated BSN online program...its a yr..but expensive..hope this helps..
  3. peds iv rates and dosages are based on weights unlike most of adults iv meds. The Dr will usually give you a dosage in mg/kg/hr..then you do the calculation to figure out the rate the iv will run into the pt. Make sure the weight is ACURATE! We had a child in ketoacidosis that was being treated wrong because of a stated weight instead of an actual scale weight..muy importante!
  4. I believe its 90 days...did they give you some hints on what you need to improve on? For a lot of people its how to take the test..so I recommend cds that have mucho practice tests that give you feedback after the test..so you know what your weakness are and fix them
  5. Can you fail that many times and still able to have a license in your state? In WA..you can only fail 3 times before you are no longer able to hold a license..might be worth it to look into that..
  6. My advice is to take multiple practice tests and when you are consistently passing those...then re-schedule..your wasting your money and time if you don't...its all about how you answer the questions..most have multiple right answers, but which one is the most correct..go with your gut..usually its right. I passed both NCLEX (LPN & RN) the first time with the minimum amount of questions because my school drilled in to us how to answer these types of questions..my class had a 100% pass rate the first time...
  7. I didn't study at all..the fact is how can you study for the NCLEX? It is such a broad test..my nursing program made sure we knew how to answer NCLEX world questions...as long as you know what they are asking, you should be able to critically think and chose the best answer...remember usually they are all right, but which is the best right answer for the question. I took the LPN and the RN NCLEX and had the minimum amount of questions for both tests...if you know your A&P and how the body/drug works then you should be able to answer any and all questions they throw at you. My advice: arrive early to the center, eat some protein for breakfast or lunch (depending on when your test is), dress warm and comfortable and do not stress...you have been studying for two years..you should know it...good luck and I'm sure you will pass.
  8. Oh that's for the LPN..I did the same for that test as well..had the minimum 85..same advice.
  9. I took the NCLEX December 17 th and passed with the minimum 75 questions...just go with your gut instinct..there was a LOT of select all that apply..which I hate, but I guess I did ok on them. What would you do first was prob the second most type of question..I thought there would be more on drugs, but that is one of my strengths and was looking for them. Get there early..eat some protein for breakfast and dress comfortably/warm..it was pretty cold. Good luck and if your school is slow to turn in all your required paperwork..then the doh will send an email to you the same day! Then you know you passed. Or go to the states inquiry page and search for your license..if it pops up..then you are an RN.
