I don't know what the hiring needs of the hospital are, but it certainly doesn't hurt to apply. I am new to the area and make a point of taking alternate routes to get where I'm going. So, I drove through Lakeland one day on my way home from Orlando. I literally drove right past the hospital. Came home googled them, and submitted my application online. I was surprised to hear from them, but happy to have the opportunity. I have since been to several interviews (floor manager, HR, employee health). I was offered a FT PM position and begin orientation next Monday. In the mean time, I'm reviewing EKG strips and trying to brush up a bit on my knowledge base

I don't know anything about the BSN program there, but I grew up in the Wheeling area. I now live in FL- had to open this post when I saw the title. Wheeling is an economically depressed area, meaning there isn't a lot of growth, and the median income is low. The people from the area are some of the hardest working people I have ever met, but many live very rough lives. My entire family still lives in the area and I visit often. Be prepared for a very different way of life if you are relocating to Wheeling. I'm not saying it is bad, just different. If you are looking at schools in that area you may also want to investigate West Liberty University. They used to (not sure if they still do) have a great nursing program. It is a public school so the tuition is far more affordable than WJU. It is a bit out of town (20 min), so a lot of people over look it....if you have any specific area questions let me know.

Where are you (in Orlando)? I am also a new grad and had an interview a few days ago at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. I have a second interview coming up this week. Maybe looking outside of Orlando would help. For me it will be about a 40 min drive, but well worth it, if they offer me a position.

I had my interview on Monday for the Cardiac Floor. I think it went well. I have a second interview scheduled with HR coming up. I'm really hopeful about the possibility of working at LRMC. If anyone can share some info about the union (maybe even a copy of the contract), that would be amazing. I was a flight attendant when I was younger and have worked as a union member in the past, I would just like to get a feel for the contract. Thank you

Hi all, I'm new to FL and a new graduate RN (ADN from IL). I have an interview next week at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect? Do they often hire new grads? To be honest I was a little surprised to get the call today, but I'm so excited that I did. I would really love to gain hospital experience and continue to grow and learn as a nurse. As far as I can tell, they don't offer a true "new grad" program, but they do hire new graduates. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

My family and i will be relocating to the Tampa bay area this summer. I am currently in my last semester of nursing school in IL and expect to sit for my NCLEX in June. Is there anyone who can share information about the job market for RNs in the area? I am very nervous about finding a job as a new grad from out of state. I am open to non hospital jobs as well as part time or PRN possitions. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thank you
