In my opinion it is not worth it. I am over 10k in debt with no job. These trade schools are schemes and they really rob you. They promise you the world when in all actuality they pray on the weak and hope you get hired through your externship soo they do not have to work to find you employment. I am considering going for my bsn. Obtaining a 4 year degree that will land me alot of career options and flexibility is far more greater than obtaining a worthless piece of paper(certificate) that employers dont really care about. Again not bashing but ppl need to hear the truth before they spend out thousands of dollars and then possibly maxing out their Aid Award making it hard for them to obtain a degree.

Thank you all for your feedback and I totally agree with all your comments. I will def scarifice the time to become a RN.I kno I have the potential to become a great nurse.

Looking to get into the nursing field but very unsure of the job leads I will have once im completed. I Have heard many horrible stories of new nurses not being able to to find employment due to lack of experience. I think I would be a great nurse but I also dont wanna have tons of debt due to not finding a job. I wanted to do LPN first to actually see if nursing is a good fit for me. I live in the Philly area so if anybody can shine some light and share some of their stories I would love to hear from you. The program im looking into is about 15k.

I am actually going through a similar situation right now. I attended a local community college and didnt do soo great so now they are making me pay for classes out of pocket. Bayada Nurses actually hires ppl with no experience as a home health aide so I was thinking about doing that job and working an unrealted job ( not in the medical field) to help pay the cost to return to school. In this situation should o go the LPN route? Or should I continue to just get the RN ? It just make take long in my situation,due to the fact that I have to pay out,of pocket.

I see more CNA jobs in Philly than I do LPN. Most LPN jobs I see are in nursing homes and not hospitals. But is LPN going to eventually phase out of the job market? As a new grad LPN with no medical experience,are my chances much slimmer on finding a job?

I attended school to become a medical Assistant and completed the program but was never able to obtain a job due to lack of experience.
