Sentara BSN program 2019
A friend of mine/ BSN student made a FB page so she could be apart of the group and get updates. It's not only helpful in the beginning before classes start but during the semester it helped me get resources (some posted notes and websites) and also to meet people! It can be very chaotic with so many due dates and confusion so talking with other students helps! They completely redid the curriculum starting with our class of 2020 so there was a lot of changes

Sentara BSN program 2019
Hi! I'm sure your schedule will be different than ours, but it's always good to have an example! SCOHS may not want me to give out the exact dates/specific times we had class so I'll give you an idea! (I'm not sure what I'm legally allowed to disclose on such a public website, sorry!!) We had class Monday early afternoon for 2 hours, Tues either no class or some students like me had class for 3 hours, Health assessment will vary because only 15 students are in each section so they had classes M-F. Wednesday we had class for 3 hours in the morning, and then everyone had either Thursday OR Friday clinical that started at 6:45 am and was 10 hours long (early, I know!) With that being said, that schedule could completely change but I hope that gives you an idea of what taking 15 credits looks like! SCOHS incorporates a lot of online hybrid learning which is why there is less class time. Many people work part time, especially as NCPs. You guys will have enough time to give notice about schedule changes to your jobs! I think we got a few months before school started. Last year (after letters got sent) one of the accepted BSN students made a FB page for our class of 2020, then some seniors/juniors joined the page and it was super helpful because we all had tons of questions for them. That's something I would suggest! Plus I would probably be able to answer more specific details since it wouldn't be so public lol (never did I realize my post last year for the BSN program would get thousands of views which is crazy!) Good luck to everyone! Also our emails went out in groups, so someone got an acceptance email one morning and mine came like 3 hours later so don't fret if you see someone post and you haven't seen anything on your end!

Sentara BSN program 2019
Hi guys, my name is Alexandra and I am apart of the BSN class of 2020. If y'all have any questions feel free to ask. Last year we had a acceptance/denial letter delay until July 7th so it was definitely a stressful couple of weeks! Good luck

I was also worried about this, however they are changing our curriculum for class of 2020. This probably means they are making adjustments to comply and keep their accreditations. Fingers crossed they keep CCNE because I heard that one is really important for getting your MSN.

Hey don't lose hope! I talked to a couple people who got in like a month or two before the program started. If I were you, I would get all the vaccinations required just incase they call you because it's a lot of work and requires time! Good luck, I hope you get in and I can't imagine how anxious you are feeling.

Ugh I just figured that out! Sucks we can't message. Do you remember when you found out your schedule or if you got to pick the days? I'm a nanny so I need to give my boss atleast 2 months notice to find a new nanny (I work evening shifts) or work out a new schedule and I was worried the orientation or class schedule wouldn't start until a month or so before Jan. Thanks for your help!!

Hey I sent you a friend request because I wanted to message you a question about your schedule! Even that little bit of info helps me out so much since I have no idea what to expect. I found Sentaras curriculum on their website and I think we take patho first semester unless they do change it for 2018.

For some reason it stopped emailing me with comment updates! Good luck to everyone, I'm waiting desperately for an email. Also I had no idea the website was outdated and they had until the 1st, I thought that's when the deposit was due by? So confused

Hey! The TEAS was hard for me as well, luckily I'm good in science but reading and English was not my strong point so I can relate! The science I studied was barely on the exam, it was mostly trying to recall things I had learned in my AP and chemistry classes about 2 years ago. Have you thought about retaking some prerecs and TEAS? It's pretty discouraging how competitive these programs are

Hey I got an email back from Amanda, email me at [email protected] and send me your number!

Oh wow, how opposite! My scores were 91 in science, 80 in reading, 81 in math, and 66 in English. I studied so hard for English and had also done lots of math practice where I always scored in the 90's so it was shocking. Also I think everyone gets different science questions so it's hard if you studied one system more than another. I was ready for some hormone questions and only had 1, when my friend had 6 or 7 on hers. I also took organic chemistry so I have a good foundation in DNA, macromolecules, forces, structures, etc. which may have helped me out because I had some questions on those. Don't feel bad, I think it's a hit or a miss with whatever version you get. How did you do so well in English?! I'm all finished with my classes, out of state tuition in VA is about $350 per credit unit compared to $44 in CA so I finished my A.A in liberal arts before I moved.

Really? Everyone I have talked to or read about in online forums for the TEAS has scored in the high 70's or up, maybe a few people lower. So I thought my score was meh, but hopefully the average is still the same. I just moved here so I don't know anyone applying, but there's around 300 applicants and 100 spots from what the recruiter told me. What were your individual scores from each section? And what classes are you taking?

Hey courtnicole, we have pretty a pretty similar score/GPA! I have a 4.0 as well but I scored an 80% on the TEAS last month. I'm retaking it on the 31st but I haven't been studying a lot due to work so I have no clue if or how much it'll increase. I'm terribly nervous because it seems like people are scoring higher due to the TEAS 6 version having a calculator and science that people actually learned in prerecs. I emailed Ana on Friday asking if she has noticed an increase but I'm not sure if she will be able to answer that without having all applicants scores in yet. I know an 85% was the average last year with a 3.8 GPA so I'm hoping it remains the same! Last year I read people who had as low as 3.6 with a high 70 get in so it's hard to say!

Sentara BSN 2018 applicants
Hi everyone! I'm noticed there hasn't been a Sentara 2018 applicants post on here yet. I'm just curious if there's anyone else on this website who applied for the BSN program starting in January? Best of luck!

Senior in HS. LVN, RN, Bridge program?! Help!
Hi! I'm a senior in high school and I would like to become an RN, however there are so many options I have no idea where to start. Keeping this short, I am not sure whether to become an LVN and do a bridge program.... or just keep it simple and find a nursing program (ASN). Things I would like to mention are: I hate prerequisites and I would LOVE to keep them to a minimum or not at all, I would like to finish in as little time as possible, I live in Southern California. Another question I have is, Is it possible to graduate high school, become an LVN, bridge program, and become an RN... and avoid prerequisites? Someone PLEASE help me out! Thanks!
