  1. I received my PCT cert in August and just received a job at a local hospital with no experience after constantly applying for over 2 months. I say just go for it and keep applying. In the beginning I was being overlooked bc of lack of experience. But someone gave me that chance. I start orientation Monday and will be on the cardiac telemetry floor. So keep applying!!! Good luck!!
  2. And I will be having 11 pts assigned to me.
  3. This was me as well until today!! I received my certification August 1. I was applying, and applying, and applying. I had 1 phone interview and 3 formal interviews. I was well liked but bc I had never had a pct job before, I was overlooked bc of lack of experience. I was really getting discouraged but never stopped applying. I literally made a habit of searching for jobs before I went to sleep every night. I prayed and asked God to give me the job that he would have for me. And needless to say I received a call saying I had the job for a cardiac telemetry floor the day after I was interviewed!! I say all that just to say keep applying and stay encouraged!! Someone will give you that chance!!
  4. I just found out today that I got the job at a local hospital as a PCT!!! I'm really excited!!! I will be on the cardiac telemetry flow. Just wondered if anyone had worked on this floor as a PCT or nurse before. If so, what should I expect? This is also my first job as a PCT so any advice on how I can do really well and be a great PCT is appreciated!!!
  5. I took a TEAS prep class and it really helped. Ours was over the course of 3 weeks, 2 nights a week for 3 hours. It was expensive but worth it. My advice is if you decide to take the class, don't wait to take the test. Take it ASAP while the material is fresh. Good luck!
  6. Thanks that is perfect advice! I don't want to overload it and end up not doing good in PCT for these 10 weeks over the summer.
  7. Congrats girl!!! I'm ready for these 10 weeks of PCT to be over so I can apply and hopefully get a job!
  8. Hi! I don't think it is a negative review. Bc you are quiet and nursing involves a lot of talking to patients, families, doctors, and other staff she just wants to make sure this is what you are comfortable doing. If you are, then just look at it as something you need to improve on. At least she mentioned it so now you know where to improve. If you know nursing is your passion and what you want to do, then go for it!!
  9. Thanks!!! They actually have one where the lab is online as well. I feel like it will be too much but at the same time doable. Don't want to not do good in both.
  10. So this is so random. But I'm in a situation where i really want to get my PCT certification done over the summer so just in case I don't get into Fall 2013 nursing classes, I can work in a hospital during the fall until I reapply and hopefully get in Spring 2014. The only thing is I really want to get A&P II out of the way as well. Pct is 8-4 M-Th all summer and I was considering doing A&P online. I'm not sure how rigorous pct classes are but I know anatomy is hard, especially II. What do you all recommend?
  11. I just wanted some insight on what to expect. The one I am interested in is 10 weeks over the summer 8-4 M-Th. I just wanted to know is it a lot of hard book work? Or just a lot of common sense things? Is it fairly easy to grasp on once I get involved and start doing hands on? Thanks for all answers!
