Need advice
Hello, I am currently a lpn looking to further my education. I need a little advice on which route to take. While maintaining a house hold of 3 small children. I have at least work 24 hours a week while attending school. To get my RN. My options are: 1. Jersey college: no entrance exam. Expensive. Offers fulltime and part time schedule. Financial aid will cover cost of attendance. 2. St. Johns River state college: Required entrance exam , must receive a 90 on both math and reading. Have to pay tuition out of pocket. Offers hybrid classes and part time schedule. Tuition affordable. 3. Excelosior college: offered online classes. Have to pay out of pocket. Can move at own pace. Cpne wait time is long. I'm afraid of failing cpne. Thank you in advance

keiser university
Yes keiser is very expensive, but their class schedule is very convenient for me to work while in the program. I like how you only take two nursing classes per semester. If I am able to pass the teas test within the two attempts. Then I will be attending keiser. What campus are interested in attending? I am trying to attend the jacksonville, fl campus. I am a little worried about how financial aid will cover the tuition for the program. I can not afford much out of pocket. But I hope things work out for you and you are accepted into the one of the 3 schools you are applying too.

Lvn student with toddler and newborn?
Going to lpn school can be down with young children. Im am in my first quarter of lpn school. I havevtwo children a one year and seven month, they are a year and 26 days apart. As long as you have a good support system. What helps mevthrought school is putting my children on a schedule. Everyday after to school I go home and study or do any assignments. Before picking my children up from daycare, its so hard to study with my children wanting my attention. I pick my kids and play with them. I put them to bed betwwen 7:30 to 8:30. I study somenights qfter they are sound asleep. It is not easy, but it can be done. Good in your journey of nursing

is nursing really worth the debt
Thank you all for your responses. To Ruby Vee: maybe you should read my previous post before posting an assumption on why you believe I recieved a c in human anatomy .I will look into trying to retake my human anatomy course. Maybe financial aid will be able to cover these costs. Thanks again everyone. I love the feedback I have been recieveing from everyone. Once again everyone sorry for the misspelling in my topic

is nursing really worth the debt
I have tried retaking my human anatomy 1 and 2. I was told because I passed both classes with a c. Which is a passing grade. I will have to pay out of state fees to retake these two courses. Which will be:(373 x 4= about 1,000 per course). I can not afford this at this time. This why private school are my options. The reason I did not pass these two classes. Was due to the fact I was not focused at all and I didnt attend these classes much. I know stupid right, I was young and was not as focused on school as I should have been. Now i have to pay for my poor choice. Thank you everyone for responses

is nursing really worth the debt
Hello everyone, I would really love to be a nurse. But, because I made a c in both human anatomy 1 and 2. I have been denied acceptance to my local community colleges. I am now forced to turn to private nursing college which have higher tuition. The two schools that I am looking into are keiser college which is now accredited and jersey college. Keiser college only offers an adn which cost 38,000. Which does not include any books , uniforms. This amount only includes the tuition and nothing more. if I choose to attend this program I would be in a lot of debt. When I already owe 9,000 in loans from a previous college. Or i can attend jersey college, which offers a lpn program . This program will cost me 15,000. I will probably average about 6,000- 8,000 more in debt. Later I can attend the local community college bridge program which my financial will be able to cover . So my lpn-rn program will be free. I will just have to pay back the loans I have already accumulated. The reason I want to attend keiser college, everyone says lpn are being phased out. I have spoken to several lpn who tell me to go straight to becoming a rn. I do not want to accumulate too much debt an I will only receive my adn. The reason I want to attend jersey college, I will have less debt. I can work while attending the bridge program. Where I live lpn can only work in long term faculties. I do not really want to work in long term facilities. I want to work in a hospital. Finally, my question is : For the nurses who accumulated debit from loans while in nursing school. Was it really worth it to become a nurse in the end? Is your debit manageable? PLEASE ONLY RESPONSE IF HAVE DEBIT. PLEASE DO NOT RESPONE STATING THAT UOUR EDUCATION WAS FREE.

need help making a final decision
I would love to go to medicial school , physicians assistant schools or to even apply at my local colleges for nursing.. I am afraid of rejection, because of my low science. After reading several of the post on this mesaage boards of my local college (fscj, ju, unf, sjrsc) of students who were accepted. Their is no way I stand a chance against students who apply with a 3.0 or higher. If I were to apply to thw local colleges in my city and if I were deined acceptance. I am back where I started at not wprking towards a degree. I havebmany different ways to gwt around retaking the human anatomy l + ll with no luck. I keep ending up the sqme spot, I am focused to pay state fees to retake these course. Thanks you both for your options . You both make really good points. I just would really start school soon because I feel like such a failure. I cant wait to start on a career and finally achieve a degree.

need help making a final decision
When I first started college after high school. I goal in college at fist was to go to medical school and become a pediatrician. I had to change my goal due to the fact that life hit me. towards the third year of college I gave birth to my first child. The following year I had my second child. After having children i have stopped going to school and changed my career goal to nursing . Because this route is much faster than becoming a doctor. I now have two children at the age 22 with no college degree. I am very impatient and would like to achieve a career really soon. Also I need more money to provide for my children.

need help making a final decision
Hello everyone, My passion is to help people and work in the medical field. My ultimate goal is get my bsn and later go back to school and become a nurse practitioner. I have completed all of my prequites for the adn or bsn progrqm, except three. I am hqving a hard time choosing a nursing path. Because I did horrible in human anatomy l and ll( I recieved a c in both course). I do not feel I would be competitive candidate for the local rn or bsn program in my area. The school I am currently attending will allow me to re take these course but the problem is: I will be charged out of state fees which is 373 per credit hour (373 x 4=993.. per class). I do not have the money. Here my options. My options are: Option 1: Attend keiser university adn program for a toal of 20 month with prequites included. Yes keiser is now an accredited college. (starts in may) OOption 2: Attend a lpn school that cost 20,000 to 27,000. Later bridge throught local community college program. (starts in march) Thank everyone for options. :)

anyone attend keiser career college lpn program? ??
Thank you. I was thinking about going to southeastern lpn program but if it is more than 28k that is too much money. I think I am just going to attend Jersey college. I don't have any extra money to pay out of pockets. I have kids and bills to take care of. 28k is way too much when keiser university adn program is 40k for me Since I have Some of my prequitesdone.but I think I am going to attend Jersey college lpn and later attend a bridge program at fscj. To reduce the cost of becoming a rn. I was trying to attend the December classes but due to the fact I don't have any child care. I am going to start the program in march.

why are you going the LPN route?
Congratulations on graduating lpn school. It does feek good to know I'm not the only one who messed up in human anatomy 1 and 2. Did you like lpn school? What are some things you learned in school?

why are you going the LPN route?
Before I realized I wanted to be a nurse. I messed up on human anatomy 1 and 2, I recieved a c in both class. Since i recieved a passing grade in these course, I am not able to retake these class. Now I am not a competituve applicant for the rn program at local community college in my area. I am forced to go the lpn route and then later go back for my rn.
