  1. I didn't use Kaplan. However the NCSBN quizzes got more difficult as you progressed- similar to Kaplan, and I was scoring 60-75% on them. Once you get the hang of how to critically analyze questions and eliminate the wrong answers........ you'll be fine
  2. Oh and yes, I called and they will not issue you a license without a social security number- the "unofficial" explanation that I got was because a lot of illegal immigrants had started working without a visa, then employers were stuck with a nurse in a critical position and were forced to sponsor work permits etc
  3. I am from Canada too... I recently passed passed the NCLEX but the competition is tough. there are many Us nurses also looking for work. I believe that with the recession, EVRYBODY went back to school and thousands of people trained to be nurses, so there really isnt a shortage of RN or LPN's. However, you do have experience on your side- even though its not American experience, so the more specialized the better. Having said that, that doesn' t aleays help. I am fortunate, we came to the USA on a business visa- my husband bought an American business, which means I can work for any employer..thats one way to do it. It's tough now....evrybody is nurse...l
  4. the majority of my questions were prioritization- which patient do you see first... and guys...IT'S OFFICIAL....well 'unofficial' , I paid for quick results and it looks like I passed. All the glory be to God!!
  5. My scores were around 60-75%. There were times that I got 38% and would go back and review the content and understand why I was getting questions wrong- second time around I would get over 80% (they change the questions a bit each time you re-take the quiz). I found NCSBN quite difficult and close to the real NCLEX. 7 days to go...I would review content that you are week at for just one or two days, then just do questions questions questions..do you have PDA?
  6. Do you mean Registered Nurse Practitioner? If so, yes that's after your NCLEX - most nurse practioners have a few years experience under their belt too
  7. Hi I took it two days ago! It wasn't easy!!!!! Good luck! Let me knw if I can help in anyway. What state are you in?
  8. I signed up for the NCSBN 3 week course, it gives you a study plan to follow and lots of questions too.
  9. I took thje test yoday and would recommend: side effects infection sontrol prioritzation
  10. I did, but I used NCSBN online 3 week review course and my own self direct study..still waiting for offical results but got the good pop up.. YOU CAN DO IT!!
  11. I hope it means that I have passed...when I think of all the hours I spent..and the casrifices I made... Does pearson vue really wait exactly 48 hours for quick results or can it be sooner?
  12. congrats!! I took the test today too, and got the good pop up, but I am still skeptical. I had a lot of priority questions and a few EKG and calculations and exhibut questions....and infection control and pharmacology..everything really.... It was very difficcult for me. I am still praying for the offcial results to be a pass.
  13. I am a nurse trained in the UK as a psychiatric nurse- our training is different which mean we specialize, very early on n the program- i have no idea about diabetes, heart disease etc. So anyway, I decided to take " the impossible" NCLEX despite being told it was virtually impossible for psych. Nurses to pass. I used: The Lord Jesus Christ of course.... PDA NCSBN 3 week course Saunders and I studied.....not reviewed, but studied, solid for 4 weeks!!! I'm talking about 5-6 hours a day everyday for 4 weeks!!! I should also point, out that i graduated 10 years ago and i have 3 kids under 8 and have NEVER worked in the USA. I took my test today....it was THE most difficult test I've ever taken and as I walked out, I vowed that if I failed, it. meant a change of career for me coz there is no way I'm putting myself through that again!!! I cried all the way home...I had 90% priority and a lot of SATA, and ordered response, as well as infection control and 2or 3. EKG and about 3 calculations. I found it very difficult... I think the computer shut off at about 115-120 questions, but by then i was like -" can this end already, I am soooo tired" , 3 hours later, Im crying in my car, all the way home...had some wine then did the PVT....got the good pop up...I still dont believe it though... iVe paid for quick results and I am still praying.. One thing for sure...its nice to be able to watch tv again!!! Does the PVT work 100%?? im so nervous.... But if i can do it....anyone can!!
