  1. Got my response in the mail today!! :balloons: So now, I need to send in my consent for a criminal records check, and start studying for the CRNE. The letter from RNABC talks about taking a refresher program, for an introduction to Canadian nursing practices and BC standards. Anyone have advice on whether that's a good idea? I graduated from a BSN program in the US in 2000 and have worked as a RN since that time, but never in a hospital or acute care setting, so I'm a little nervous about my skill level...
  2. I haven't gotten quite that far yet... It depends on where I'm able to find a job that I really want! I work in immunization research right now, so if I can find something in a similar field it would be great; public health/community health is my other area of interest. I would like to be within 30-45 min. of Vancouver, and we are open to city as well as more rural areas, so it's pretty much all up in the air still! Any recommendations?
  3. Thanks North, I did actually email to see if I could get any information, and here's the entire response: "We have received the references. We will send you a letter when your file has been assessed." So, I took that to mean I should be quiet and wait! Which is fine, I didn't expect this to happen quickly. Just wondering what others' experiences were. What do you mean exactly by registering for every year by March 1st? Is that when everyone's license renewals are due?
  4. Any other international applicants out there that can let me know what their timeline was like? I sent my application and associated paperwork to the RNABC in Nov. '04. They sent me a letter a couple of months later (actually they sent me a letter that was meant for someone else, but I called and straightened that out) assigning a file number. My current and previous supervisors received and returned reference requests in early March, and I haven't heard anything since. I know it's only been 6 months, and this can take a long time, but I would feel better about it if I knew how long other people's applications took to be processed! Thanks in advance.
